It's a good phone for the money. Small screen is a limit, specially while typing in portrait mode. However it has all the Android goodness needed, if your content that it is not the first kid on the block. Speed now and then is lacking.
Overall a good price/performance compromise.

1. Go to network settings and select 2G network
2. dowload juice defender application and select the advanced or extreme pre-settings
3. always ensure all the background tasks are really closed

> In reply to Charlo Mzito @ 2011-02-12 08:20 from fuwx - click to readSafaricom internet seems to have been experiencing some connection problems lately so call customer care the problem may not be the fon. Mine works just fine and use 2G it uses less battery and your battery will last longer than a day!

The phone is admittedly good and worth the publicity that it is enjoying at the moment. It is no doubt a challenge to other smartphones that are emerging in the market now.It is everything in one! I would award it 87% worth of points in any competition. The problem so far is quick drain of battery power. We need to be advised on the possible remedy.

I have been using Ideos for about a month now but recently it stopped getting access to Safaricom 3G. i did a factory reset but this did not resolve my problem. In fact I realized that I could not internet settings from Safaricom. Does anyone know how to go about this?

Pretty decent phone with awesome specs. And for the price given in Kenya, it's a bargain. Of course, compromises have to be made as you can't expect everything to be perfect. Such flaws like the small on screen QWERTY keyboard, poor earphone sound quality and terrible battery can be overlooked. Otherwise it does the job well and the looks ain't shabby either.

Really good phone, mine fell into a tub of water but after drying out in a few hours it was back to full use. After two weeks of use here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
wifi feature is great you can use it as wifi hotspot for upto 8 devices.
internet speed is great.
touch screen is very responsive
very loud stereo speakers
lots of applications to choose from android market
Cons
Battery drains real quickly even with 3G, bluetooth and wifi turned off. Needs charging at least 1 to 1.5 days
Mediocre earphones, very low volume
Poor quality camera

Seems some people here have little hands on experience of smart phones. They are simply mini computers. And can run very many apps in the background. An average smart phone has about 128 MB of ram, making this phone a smart phone on steroids with its 256MB. The only downside is that they use battery power. Trust me even apps in background consume energy especially those that try to maintain a connection to a network e.g. Internet or wifi. I have seen many complaints on battery life so here are a few pointers. Try to minimize running apps to only those you currently need, make sure that the apps you are no longer using are REALLY closed, use 2g networks, turn off gps when not in use, and your battery will last more than 3 days! One other very important thing is "burning in" the new battery. Ensure that you have taken the battery through at least 5 full charge cycles before you start half charging the battery. I also saw somewhere that it's not advisable to quickly discharge new batts e.g. by over use... Something to do with ensuring that the battery reaches it's peak performance before you really start sweating it. I'm not sure about the last one but anything will do to improve battery life. This Qwerty keyboard sucks. Only thing that saves it's ass is the predictive text. Anyway... Great phone for the price.
