The latter requires Rooting your phone and Flashing the new rom, it will add an unbelievable amount of speed to this device, so much more custom options (like the colours of the status bar, putting widgets in the drop down status bar etc) and you will have apps 2 sd.
email search the modaco forums or Google.com for Cyanogenmod 6 for pulse for more information and help in flashing a new rom, making your phone awesome! haha

please please help me i can not move my apps to sd cardmy phone memory is full and i can not download any more apps but my sd card is empty and not storing any thing only pictures but no videos or music.....please reply i dont want to change my phone

> In reply to sly b.a.d @ 2011-08-31 19:43 from PGHG - click to readapp2sd will work only if u rooted ur phone , otherwise , u'll see it's useless , u can get astro from the market to have backups of ur apps , but in order to move ur apps installation from the device to the sd card u need to root ur phone and i am not sure about how to do that , or what app u use for it , all i know u divide ur sd card to 2 partitions and u have to make sure the one u'll use to install apps on it is not more than 999Mb . and i think u use zroot for that , just not 100% sure of the name . u can google root u8230 and u'll fine more details , bets of luck :))
