I am currently using the TMo version of the KJam HTC Wizzard, whatever MDA Vario. I love the unit, it is function packed and finally WM 5.0 has resolved some long standing issues. The form factor (sliding keyboard) is very cool, I am over 6 feet tall and my hands can easily type up IM stuff and update work notes on the fly, you need two hands but I am okay with that. I upgraded from a HP 6315 and it is a nice change, one for the better, the MDA is smaller lighter and a better phone and PDA. When I am operating the unit with the keyboard out its like using a tiny laptop, again cool. The voice recognition software is the best that I have ever used, heck I spent years training my Natrually Speaking software and it was never this good. You can really take advantage of hands free operation because you can operate everything from this format. Contacts, Calander, Word, tons of funcitionality, I love it! Yes, the processor is small and somewhat underpowered, but with the addition of a 1GB mini SD card, (cannot use the old SD collection from the 6315, bummer!) it moves along at a pretty decent pace. Watch out for program additions, I had to do a hard reset to resolve a active sync issue that I believe was due to some old applications that I tried to load from my old unit. Now that I am using only WM 5.0 software it seems to like me. Too many features to list in one review. No bundled software applications on the installation disk, (those days are gone) but all in all I really love this thing, you will need to get a backup program because active sync 4.1 does not have that capability anymore.

Was given one of these for work recently. I also have an iPaq h4150 for my personal life. I have to say that the 200mhz processor is too slow for what these units are designed for. Even with just the Phone app, Active Sync and outlook running, it's very slow to make or answer phone calls. The other pain is having to extend the stylus to use it - even then it's just a bit too short to use with comfort. The keyboard is very nice, but it's annoying how some functions just aren't accessible using either the keyboard or hardware buttons. For instance you can do JUST ABOUT everything email related, but to change from inbox to sent items you need the stylus. If this unit had a 400mhz CPU, and total stylus free operation for us button addicts I'd buy it, but as it is it's not worth the money.

Some replys:
Keyboard- Ok, so this isnt a rough and tough phone. If you drop it down a flight of stairs then yes, it will break. But after using it to type an assignment, (computer issues) I have still found no problems with it.
Hanging and being slow- There is a truth to this. If you have 60 programs running at once in the background then yes, it will be slow. but this is only when you are surfing the web, writing emails and playing games at once.
Battery- I live with another guy who has a Jam, my battery actually out lasts his battery 4 out of 5 times. Yet I use mine far more. Battery for me usually lasts 2-3 days.
Any questions just email me.
Cheers

Dear Kjam users. Could any of you tell me if the unit has a handwriting recognition function? It is not included under the unit specifications and I am not sure why. Thank you!

1- Is the Battery life for K-Jam good or not ( comparing with JAM)?
2- Is it true that the K-JAM very slow and hang somtimes?
3- Is it true that the Keyboard and slide broken after a while of usage?

Ive had the KJam for 2 months now and its for sale. After pulling my hair out trying to get activesync working i finally figured out that you need to enable tcp/ip in the dial up networking on your pc for this device. The reason i bought it was to use msn messenger but unfortunately msn is so buggy on this device its unusable. My old hp 4350 never skips a beat with msn over gprs or 3g data connections. There is no help on the imate web site for any of these issues.
Im going back to my faithfull HP device.

The phone currently supports only B. However the i-mate Kjam site says that it will support G after a ROM update to be released free of charge sometime this year from club i-mate.

Hi, I was wondering if this phone supports only wireless B or both B/G? I think I read somewhere that it only supports B, but many sites, including this one, says that it supports both B and G. Thank you.

Fixed the issue with Activesync. There was an issue during the install and took some time to fix. The main problem was when activesync was making its first connection with the pda, the connection dropped out due to what I assume was my email alert pop-up (the only other thing running at the time). When you first sync the device ensure that no other programs are running. If the problem has happened you will need to reinstall windows. Yes, that means blue screen time. Put on a pot of coffee. It takes time to fix.

So far the K-Jam is working great. I am, however, having problems with the active sync, the computer can find the phone and will wait for the phone, but the phone never gets back to the computer. Is there a fix for this? Any help would be great.
