It is not worth a penny atleast in India. Not a single service provider support the phone. From the day one its key pad light is off.
Phone is quite slow as compared to Nokia-E-50 of the same price range. Phone gets hanged as bitten by microsoft operating system. Sound Quality is good but no graphic equaliser. It can't playback most of the video format. Reception is quite poor.
The worst thing is that it is not supported by any indian service provider.
I-MATE SHOULD NOT SELL THESE PHONE IN INDIA TO CHEAT INDIAN.I-MATE KNOW THAT THEY ARE SELLING THE PHONE TO THE PERSONS WHO ARE NEW & THEY CAN CHEAT THEM.Any way I have one and I feel I have been cheated by I-Mate & their dealer by not disclosing that it is not supported by service providers in India.

I have had 3 i-mate phones and I love them - but if you live in South Africa do NOT get one - the agents here are hopeless. My smartflip charger port was damaged and it took over a month to get a quote to fix it - and the quote over R2 500 - I queried this and now get no response from the agents - their phone gives the wrong address for their service centre and is frequently simply not answered (this was over the 2007 festive season but still - no message on the phone of a phone service provider is not really acceptable). I have been using my trusty SP3i backup phone but now the joystick is giving trouble and the agents don't support that phone because they only took over the agency recently and did not import the SP3i ... so their attitude is basically - get a new phone.

My smartflip charger has been damaged twice from plugging in the USB charger to the phone(phone charger input damaged) and could not be repaired under warranty. This has happened to one other person I know with the same phone, so would like to know if anyone else has experienced a similar problem.

Bought this phone recently...however, have been unable to activate GPRS..On checking with the service providers - Vodafone, I was told that this fone is compatible only to 'advanced GPRS'...is this true?

Sandhya,
Imate needs manual configuration of GPRS services. have u done that settings yet?
if not, take it to your service provider (like Airtel / Vodaphone) and they will do the setting for u at no extra cost.
there should be no other issue with Windows devices. they usually work straight away once the IP address and other settings are in place.
Hope this helps.

Good phone as long as it works! IMate service in India is very poor. They had no parts, did slipshod work and the phone had to be returned back to the shop two more times. Refused to replace the phone, even though the problems occured in the first month.
Disposed it, and am happy with my Nokia E50.
