The people who are addicted to the use of other phones may not like the menu structure. But if you are a windows user you are already familiar its features and menu texts.
Also the sync feature is really awsome. Direct connect with the PC and any datatransfers. IR feature is totally useless these days. And thank god its not present. Camera quality is good. Programability! fantastic. I tried to write a few application on my own and they work.
This is not the case with Symbian based cells.

Fantastic smart phone. Slight drawback is that it's not EDGE enabled. Passes well for the any beauty and brains test.

The i-mate spl is a really slim n sexy smartphone. I hate bulky boxy phones & was very impressed by its looks. This is the first smartphone which you would flaunt for its beauty & not just brains. Its slim & light (a pleasure to carry). The 128/64 rom/ram aids in the speed of operation. It is much faster than all Nokia N series phones. I have not had a single software hangup with this phone. The 2mp still camera is good. However the video recording is pathetic, the quality reminded me of the first Nokia camera phone. The absence of a flash is also felt. The contact management is good. All menus can be accessed by short cut keys. Push mail works great. Mail attachments open quickly. The speaker is sad. The earphone position takes some time to get accustomed to. The battery life is also not satisfactory especially if the phone is used for surfing (2hrs). Windows mobile 5.0 works well. It is much superior to symbian which now feels outdated. It advicable to use a mini SD card to store data in order maintain the speed of your phone. The screen is of a good size & images very vivid. But the best feature of this phone is its PRICE. You can't beat its price performance ratio. Just compare its price with other phones having similar features & you will know what i mean.

This phone is not manufactured by I-mate.. means its just branded as I-mate SPL . the oem is HTC...... Frankly speaking we cannot compare symbian & windows. both have their own pro's and cons. eg wm is more prone to hangups than symbian also most of the basic gsm sms usage like sending / receving business cards and ringtones doesn't work on wm ,on symbian it works. and the most imp most symbian phones are 3g enabled (not to consider HTC mteor, :P the only 3g wm phone without HSDPA). But windows has good Networking features , the inet access is faster if compared to the GPRS connection on symbian.

The earpiece of this phone is at one end of the phone and I had a hard time to adjust after using Nokia and Moto L7 phones. The volume is not good as well!
