1 - Yes you can use MP3s for the ringtones
2 - The ringer is loud but not as lod as some phones
3 - I don't know what frequency Cingular use so I couldn't say
4 - My Shine has some bugs which LG has acknowledged and are working on but nothing like the two you just described.

Hi everyone, I have had two LG shine phones in as many weeks. The first one would only charge when it felt like it and at worst remained dead for 4 days and now my replacement phone will sometimes not switch on after being switched off...even though I know the battery is full! Has anyone else had these problems or am I just susceptible to bad luck!

i just purchased the shine yesterday and i must say it is an awesome looking phone. everyone who see's it, loves the finish. It truly shines!!! Looks are absolutly sexy however there are a couple fundamental things I do not favour. First the scroll is a little delayed, so when you are trying to select something, you sometimes end up selecting the wrong function. The little tiny buttons on the corners of the scroll take some time to get used to but if you don't have overly large fingers, it should be ok. I was hoping that you are able to press one of the outside buttons to answer an incoming call without sliding the phone but there is no option to do that. The last thing is sync'ing to my comp, it takes an eternity to load up. Maybe it may be my comp, but i am running on P4 so I donno. overall, I tell ya, if you want some hand candy, this phones for you...

I've been really looking to buy this phone, but I wanted to make sure it was compatible with Cingular in the US. Also, I'm worried that ringtones and such could be a problem, if I bought/downloaded them from Cingular.

Why would it? And given that a lot of countries are starting to stop broadcasting in analogue an FM radio would prove useless in them.

Maximum video resolution is 176 x 144. Not the best in the world.
As to the ringtone/mp3 playlist bug LG have got back to me saying they have passed it on to research and development department so hopefully a new firmware out some time soon.

bought the phone about a week ago. took care of the t-zones problem i had working fine now. the trick is to tell the tmobile people in u.s is that the menu is compatible with L1400 lg phone then they send the right settings to you.
now 1 problem fixed i am coming up with another one. recently my phone starts to shut off on its own and i cant turn it on unless i take the battery out and put it back in. is that happening to anyone else?
also is there no software update for this phone on the website yet?
thankyou.

Really intelligent comment from the anonymous poster their. No wonder they didn't leave their name.
Jolie I have actually informed LG about the ringtone bug and they said they passed it on to their techs. Doubt I will hear anything else from them. If you want to report it do so at http://www.lgmobile.com

I have had the same problem ringtone problem. I deleted the default ringtones from the MP3 player and now cannot use any of them! Is there anyway to rectify this? I also have to remove the battery to be able to switch the phone on again when I turn it off.

Why do stupid people always bad mouth things they either don't understand or cannot afford?
Onto the questions:
As it CLEARLY states on the specifications page this phone has 50MB of internal memory but you can use an external memory card as well.
Does this phone have a plan? Yes it wants to take over the world.
Is it expensive? Yes all phones are expensive if bought without a contract but you can get this for free on a contract.

I had the phone for a week and had to return it because the scroll down button didnt work. It scrolled up instead and it was annoying. In generally it is a classic girly phone and has limited features. The tones, saving more than 1 phone number for a contact are to name a few. It's different and good for now but I'm sure I get bored of it sooner or later.
