I contacted LG UK support and they confirmed that there will GB update this year, see replay i got:
Thank you for your e-mail.
We currently do not have an release date for Android 2.3 at this point, though we can confirm it will be released before the end of this year. For further information we would advise sporadically checking the LG blog on www.lgblog.co.uk. This is where we would first post new information regarding Android 2.3 and its status once more information becomes available.
We hope this information has been useful to you, if you have any further queries please feel free to contact ourselves again via e-mail or on 0844 8475454.

LG Australia just commented that the update was scheduled at the end of this month or start of november on their facebook page
Even if the Gingerbread update will be cancelled (as rumored in some previous posts; however, i couldn't find any official info on this cancellation), i would definitely not miss it. I successfully installed Cyanogenmod 7.1, and I now have super-fast Gingerbread 2.3.7 on my 2X. It really works and it feels like it's 10x faster (on a general level) than the 2.2.2 it replaced. I bet it would still be faster than an official Gingerbread upgrade. For instance, camera used to start in about 5 seconds on 2.2.2, now it starts in 1 second or less. However, the FM Radio is missing and the LG widgets as well. But it's worth installing it, it finally feels like dealing with that dual-core beast you thought you bought in the first place! Beware though, if you decide to install, do it at your own risk: rooting will void phone's warranty and, if not careful, there is a chance (however small) you could brick it.

Currently while I am making any video call through Skype/Yahoo messanger, always back camera is activated in my LG OPTIMUS 2X.I want the front camera should be activated instead of back one at the time of video calling.
How will i remove the headphone sign in the home page of my phone. It really annoyed me because I can only talk when I insert my head set. Please I need an ANSWER
szabi, 20 Oct 2011and when will come that 2.3 official update? I expected it for this month, and still nothingTodey l got email from lg update to gingerbread has been cancelled
In case you experience phone freezes, you can install nice application that prevent deep sleep mode in the LG optimus 2x and will prevent freezes (at least for me it did). Just get the “SoftLocker” FREE from the market and enable it
Hope this will help you (as it did for me), Shuki
Think got for half a year, yes no 2,3 udpate yet, but could be solved via Cyangenmod, which is custom ROM. Thats turns optimus to a beast :) performance according to hardware :)
