This phone supports HD voice, samsung does not support this function and believe me the clarity of the conversation is unbelievable.

Get the samsung galaxy s 2, truly the best phone out at the moment, who cares about 3d, you dont need that on your phone, gs2 has the best specs, even overtaking iphone4! i bought it last week, trust me it wont dissapoint

> In reply to x9moto @ 2011-07-06 15:50 from HCdq - click to readThe 3G works excellent too. I had an N900 before this which works perfectly well, but I seem to get a slightly faster 3G speed on the Optimus 3D.

At first I was worried as it often says my cell signal is low, but in fact I think its just reporting differently and updating faster. As it seems to flip around between 3G and HSDPA all the time but the actual web page loading speed has been consistently fast, even when its saying low signal.

i, have purchased one of these on contract, and i must say the 3d effect on games is fantastic they are fast lifelike and glitch free, the internet works like a charm on wifi i cant comment on 3g as its not available where i live.

the appstore has just about anything emaginable and many of them are free, the content available in 3d on utube is limited at the moment but i would guess it will expand quickly once more people get their hands on a 3d handset.

the video and photo quality is supreme in 2d mode, and just better than average in 3d, i would strongly recomend getting the 32gb memory card as you will need it 3d is thirsty for memory expecially in the HQ settings.

the touch screen works well and is sensitive, the sound from the 1 built in speaker is suprisingly good,
call quality is very good (usually poor quality here).

the battery life is short when using the 3d functions, but no worse than another well known smartphone i have.

a few negatives:

no memory card supplied so you will have to lay out for a 32gb (not cheap) if you want to get the most out of it.

the 3d and data heavy apps will have you going over your data allowance within hours if you are not carefull (i managed to use 2gb in a few hours on wifi)

you cannot set your own mp3's as ringtones withought downloading an app to crop them as the length is limited to 30secs and even then you will need a file manager app to put your new ringtone in the right place to be "seen" by the phone, you cant change message tone at all apart from 6 built in polys, i think this is really bad for such an otherwise modern phone.

summary:

if you are a gadget feak and want to play around with 3d the optimus supports downloading to pc where you can change formats to anaglyth etc for use on websites and the 3d quality is as good as most rigs built with 2 single cameras "ie very good" 3d is a great way to capture amazing pictures and once the technology evolves i think will be more than a trend.

if you are just looking for a smart phone then this phone can forfill this void perfectly as well but it seems a whaste to have the complexity of 3d hardware if you are not going to use it.

with 550 euros i can buy a Sony HX100v which costs 440euros and can take 100000x times better photos/videos than Optimus 3D and with 110 euros i can find a PHONE which battery lasts for at least 800 hours instead of 100 and I CAN TALK for real as the real purpose of the phone is to TALK.

Had our demo turn up today was out the box and set up in less than a min of it arriving, First impressions are the phone is great the 3d works well the handset runs really smooth, with its dual core processer, and the fact you can turn a pic you took in 2d to a 3d image was really nice also you can play with the depth of field within 3d content so it is more eye friendly, only draw back is the are few things to do with your 3d content once you campture it other than upload to the internet or view on your 3d tv if you are lucky enough to own one. also lg only give a 1yr warrenty so insurance is a no brainer !!!!!
