Ok here are most of the answered you need for the LG U310.
1: USB Cable
The LG USB Cable you need for this handset is the
Product Code: SGDY-0011503
http://au.lgmobile.com/webwar/...1503_001.jpg
Basically this USB cable is the same one for the LG KG800 (GSM Chocolate Slider)
If you can't be bothered trying to track down a USB Data Cable for this handset, Bluetooth dongle will work.
I use the ASUS Bluetooth Dongle and it does everything including using the LG Internet kit to get wireless broadband modem connection going.
Buy it from UMART (Austalian Computer supermarket - really cheap and good quality products)
http://umart.net/au/product_in...f2ae5d9f9c7e
2: The LG U310 will work with a Sandisk MicroSD 1GB memory card.
Memory cards are pretty cheap now with 512MB MicroSD costing around $19.95 Australian $$$
1GB MicroSD for $29.95 Australian $$$
3: In order to get the front screen on more than 15 seconds, you can't in idle mode, only when you have the music playing (with or without ear phones) and when your playing video on the front screen (you need ear phones connected for front screen video playback)
The LG U310 is data locked in terms of MMS, Access point and Browser profile (but not JAVA account profile).
So even if you want to change the Browser profile to point to a different Planet 3 page like My 3 everythime you press the Planet 3 (top rightsoft key) button it will still load up the main Planet 3 HOME) page.
The LG U310 is of course firmware locked to 3 networks only.
That said, any world wide 3 USIM will work in this phone as its firmware locked to 3 networks.
If you put i a non 3 USIM of course it will be SIM LOCKED.
There is no bypass method around this as there was with the LG U880 that the end user and not an unlocker could do.
I don't think the unlocking boxes like Furios Gold ect can unlock this handset just yet, but its being worked on.
Just note: in the basic package it only comes wit the standard 800mAh slim line battery which will not do more than 2 days of real world use and will probably kill itself after 8 months like al LG slim line standard batteries do.
Overall its a great cheap way to get into 3G at the Australian prepaid price of $229.
Others?
Only plays QCIF 176x144 15fps 3GPP video and of course QCIF MP4 Video with AMR audio.
Audio wise it will play MP3 (even with 22.05khz sample rate which is great if you want to make the Mp3 a small as possiable without loosing audio quality, just encode at 128kbps which gives you 80kbps playback, so basicaly a 4MB MP3 at full rate will be 2MB at half rate)
Overall, I'll give this LG U310 at 7.5 out of 10.
Its not perfect but for the price its very good cheap entry point in into the world of 3G.

I've got the phone ... just regarding the connectivity (to upload songs, etc). You need to get a bluetooth dongle (looks like a USB hard drive).
You then need to go into the bluetooth menu on the phone and try to connect to your PC. Depending on the software that comes with your Bluetooth PC dongle you should be told what COM port the connection is ... which is required when you start the LG PC Synch software - go to the connection details and tell it to use BlueTooth (rather that the default of USB!) & the COM port to use.
Hope that helps someone ...

hi there.
I bought this phone just three weeks ago and I am pretty dissapointed with the reliability on this phone.
The screens generally turn white or flash different colours which is a pain because you cant answer calls properly.
umm, the features are great though such as the multimedia side of it, although this is hardly any space and cant hold many photos.
It doesnt come with a memory card or a USB which is a bit of a downfall but if you just want this phone for contacting this phone then it is perfect. But it really isnt a reliable multimedia phone.
from a customer...

I bought the LGU310, and the packaging is pretty disappointing. No USB cable for my computer, but it did come with a CD. Which is pretty much useless, since you can't connect to the computer. Also, when other mobiles come with a external memory card, this one doesn't come with one. Only has the 12MB memory on the handset.
But the design seems alright. Can someone alswer my question? How am I going to put songs on my phone without a USB cable? Where do I get the right one for my phone, if they don't give me one?

I am thinking of purchasing this phone, but was wondering if users of it can let me know if the outside screen shows anything when the phone is not in use, eg the time clock. Also when a message has come through, does it show up on the outside screen. I have been told that it doesn't show up - someone pls get back to me before i purchase. thanks
