Being a fan of flip phones/clamshell phones, the LG U830 was a must have. I've had it for about 3 months so far and apart from looking really sleek, it has served me well.
My only gripes about this mobile include the fact that its battery life is horribly poor. I haven't tried the slim battery that came with it but the bigger battery only lasts for about 3 days just on stand by mode! Based on that, it’s not surprising that the box came with two different batteries. The other thing that I wasn’t too pleased about was the rather tinny sounding speaker. It's especially bad when the lid of the mobile is shut.
Overall, it's a good mobile and I'm happy with it.

Does anyone know how many songs this phone holds? I have one on layby but now im not sure cos i mainly wanted it for the mp3 player but if it doesn't hold at least one hundred songs then i guess it's not the phone for me.

this a horrible phone, like all of LG mobiles, they have great design but their softwares are slow and lag a lot, samsungs' software is 10x better. not to mention, it has so many bugs that it's hard to describe, battery life is poor

I actually disagree about this phone not being good. I got it from Verizon and works good, the charging works, the quality sound, and well everything seems good to me!

I think many people miss out the obvious, this is mainly a 3 phone and looking at past 3 phones there had not been one this slim and nice looking, they have always been bolky. Also many people say about it not having a memory card slot, i was put of this at fist but after having one i have many songs and many pictures and it still isnt full!.. the design is great, and the feaures are good.. you cant expect a phone to have every thing.. that is still to come.

My sister has just picked this phone up. I dont see the problem here..You get 2 batteries..Like the gentleman said earlier..You get 2 batteries!. If you want music, Buy an ipod. If you want a brillaint camera, Buy a digital camera. If you want everything, Look at an Nokia E65 or a N95. U830 is a basic phone for people who have the basic needs. PHONING AND TEXTING PEOPLE.

Hi, when my u830 is open there is nothing on the front screen. Is there supposed to be? My u880 would have a 3 sign on it. It also seems to give me the option of selecting a picture for outgoing calls on the front screen but mine is just blank when the handset is open. Don't know if this is right or not...

Ya, that thing is nothing compared to the American Version. Ours is called the 8600 and it has a memory card slot and it is BAD ASS. Ours looks better too! SWEET!

This phone looked good but proved to be a real disappointment after I upgraded from my LG u880.
* First of all the shock was no external memory! All I have now is 180mb which made me really annoyed as my 512mb transflash card was always full and I was thinking of 1Gb. What sort of upgrade is this !!!
* Secondly there is no easy way to copy my java applications that I had backed up on my PC. The accompanying pc software only allows a few types of files (music and video etc). Only way is to connect using bluetooth. Not very convenient.
* Thirdly this phone doesnt charge itself using USB. This is a real pain as the battery is very short lived and you cannot take the charger around. I might have to buy a second charger for office.
I would have had it changed but was too late to ask for a replacement. Now I am stuck with it for one year. :-(
