Samsung has announced that its mobile payments service Samsung Pay has processed a total of over 1 trillion KRW ($850 million) in transactions in its home country of South Korea. The milestone comes nine months after the service was launched in the country.
"Samsung Pay is changing the way consumers pay and we will continue to add the best services to create a differentiated mobile payment culture," a company spokesperson said.
The service made its US debut in September last year, and roughly six months after that, Samsung announced that over 5 million users have signed up for the service and more than $500 million have been processed in transactions.
A report last month said that Samsung Pay was the top mobile payments app in South Korea. Aside from its home country and the US, Samsung has already launched the service in China, and is bringing it to Singapore this quarter.
Common Samsung - release this internationally. Stop faffing about. I'll die of old age before this comes to Canada - like everything else - sadly :'(
