The best phone Ive bought for years. Had it for nine months now and only had it fixed for the mic/speaker.. coz I filled it full of metal dust I think from work. GPS gets confused when you leave it in 35+ degree heat. Im still learning the Windows on it. I hope the phone carriers don't loose GSM cover as it doesnt have 3G capability though. Can't seem to copy GPS mapping onto a bigger SD 2Gig card?. Sill better than all other phones.

I have owned my A701 for 6 months. I use the PDA function most and the GPS for navigating the city streets. Great unit, has not let me down. I have no trouble with phone reception. I like this model most, it has less buttons and more screen functions. 9/10

I have a Mio A701 since 1,5 year the first 9 months it was working perfect, except the weakness with the battery you have maximum 1/2 hour of conversation and you can't use the GPS without external energy, I use my phone for my job and I usually have 2 hours of communication. After 9 months, it began to need to be restarted 2 or 3 time a day, I had a contact with Mitac belgium, they told me to load the Windows 6 soft. I did it, after this The errors with the phone grew up to a level as I have to use it as a GPS navigator. So I'll buy a HTC P3300 and use the Mio in my second car as a GPS navigator !!!

Someone said it's heavy. At the time of it's release, it was one of the lightest devices of it's kind, at 150 g., and remember that it has almost everything integrated in it and a large screen. Most others were 170-190 g., or more.

I've had the Mio A701 for more than a year and i've never had any problems with it. It works great and it moves very fast, even with A LOT of extra aplications & games installed (SPB Mobile Shell & Phone Suite are a must). Even the phone part works good, even though I do have the lag in answering calls, which I don't really like. The signal strength is good, too. It may not be the best PHONE, the best PDA, the best GPS device, but it's a great combination of all these things. It works for me!

Well. Great phone! The "2 secs" delay is gone with Oki R024 WM 5.0 ROM. With this my calls delay is around: 0,5 secs. Way better.
Talking about the phone itself, its a very fast machine, runs at ~ 500 Mhz, great GPS, i use Tomtom 6 on it, works wonders.
Good SMS - Email - MMS management. Work fine with a 4GB SD card. Very good.
Only one thing that's bad: the phone weight.

5 Stars PPC mobile.

Well done phone and great functions. I recommend it . GPS working very good, phone part with no mistake. The only "bad" thing is the fact that when you answer to the phone there is 2 second time delay. Other wise, GREAT device.

Well folks, Mio was very quick to give me the third replacement in February. I love the versitilty of the phone and SD card expension. MP3 is second to none in sound. Camera is totally useless. GPS has been excellent but the phone has in the last few weeks has started to crash on incomeing text and calls and needed a reset before it can be used. When GPS starts up all the alarms and reminders for the day come on one after the other. I treat it with more care than my grandmother. Thinking of throwing it back at Mio and get a Nokia equivalent. Any suggestion out there.

I've had my mio for about a month now. GPS works great- came preinstalled with MioMap. ActiveSync no problem after disabling ZoneAlarm and Spyware softwares. I also have an Ambeon wifi working with it. Overall, the phone/pda really suits my needs and I'd recommend it to everyone... *except* those who would use the phone function a lot. My mio has been dropping calls- when I answer, the line hangs up. However, it seems to always pick up properly on the 2nd call. If u don't mind spending an extra minute waiting for the person to call back, or calling them yourself, then it's bearable. To be fair, I did not notice this problem when I 1st had the phone (maybe because I didn't get many calls), so it may be due to software conflicts since i've downloaded several games and other softwares. Finally... messaging is great. The virtual keyboard and auto word completion feature beats T9 predictive text messaging hands down, i reckon.

Frans, Thanks for the GPS settings, it works. However, I got more problmes now. My MIO always freeze for no apparent reasons, be it I set it to lock or unlock. I try the reset "button" but to no avail. I need to take the battery out in order to cause it to work again!! I have to do this more than 10 times a day!! The phone did not work properly. It's the worst phone I ever had. I rate the whole Mio A701 as appalling after spending so much money and effort on it! I can sympathise with Michaelc's experience ;-(

I have just bought myself the Mio A701 and got TomTom version 6 successfully installed. When I powered up TOMTOM, the navigation just didn't work. The map was shown but indicated that No GPS was found and kept showing that it was trying to connect to GPS device, and of course without any success. I have set the Settings/GPS Settings/GPS Program port to COM4. Any suggestions from anyone how to get the GPS runnning. Thanking you in advance from hearing from you.
