Why is this phone expensive. It's a piece of junk (NOT BASHING THIS BRAND!) compared to other phones that are out now. Why should people have to pay $2000 for a 2GB, no 3G, 2MP camera cellphone? Is the "stainless steel housing with chemically etched textures" and "assisted-opening blade mechanism with carbon carbide coated main gears" making the price so high? I for one have no idea why it's so expensive. Could someone please explain????
Rouxenator, 22 Oct 2008Why is people so obsessed with how phones and electronics look ? It is a communications device... moreSo you want everyone in the world to be just like you? One could argue that all phones are the same, make calls, txt msg, take photos, the only thing that separates them is how they look and "feel".
Revival of motoroto.. good specification hower the earlier verion was much more slick n sexy to hold n have.. again a very girly phone to go with the red shopping bag.
Girls have fun ;)
I dont like the design, but if you look at what its made off. Sounds very good.
(for the Dutch people under us, check www.mobilecowboys.nl for a short revieuw of te phone, it makes the phone looks even better, they go more into some specs). Ive read somewhere that the phone is gonna cost around €2000,- or $2000.-.
Thats quite a lot!
Rouxenator, 22 Oct 2008Why is people so obsessed with how phones and electronics look ? It is a communications device... moreIt's just a communications device, so the look of the phone is as relevant as the smell of the moon?
Um, do you live in a cave? 'Cause that's the only way I can see what you're saying making sense. In your train of thought, you would then have to agree with this as well: "a car is just a means of transportation, so the look of the car is irrelevant", or "clothing is just a way of keeping your body warm, so how it looks doesn't matter"... Please try to get into your skull that the look of whatever product is completely relevant in one way or another, and if people only cared about practical we would be walking around in animal furs driving fiat multipla's. By the way, if you wear raw animal hide and drive a multipla, I rest my case ;)
Rouxenator, 22 Oct 2008Why is people so obsessed with how phones and electronics look ? It is a communications device... moreAre you insane?? they way a phone looks is VERY VALID. Not only are they a communications device, they are style icons, and to say they arent is a bare faced lie. Get real.
i believe that everything should b a work of art if not then y is art in natur in the 1st place
and this mobile is beautiful true the specs rnt wow but who wouldnt buy this mobile to use as a mobile insted of a pocket pc or a mp3 player device woould buy one if the price is fair
Rouxenator, 22 Oct 2008Why is people so obsessed with how phones and electronics look ? It is a communications device... morefor the same reason people want a stylish house to live in or a car to drive in its more then just communications, its aesthetics
This is phone is made for class market, for VIPs and who are crazzy about mobile phones. Motorola do not even expect the mass market to catch up and more over, they have introduced this mobile not for large sales. They just have to show their design values. Motorola may come up with an extra ordinoary mobile later this phone. We must always encourage the technology as they have introduced the first ever circle shaped mobile whether it may impress few people of this world.Let us see, what is gonna happen?

I can easily imagine the following people being potential customers of Aura:
1)The wealthies people in HK...or their wives! Who cares about lack of Wifi and this and that? They've dozens...if not hundreds of assitants, who have the feature packed phones, to do the job for them!
2)People in the Arabic countries (like UAE, Saudi Arabia) or any place with plenty of oil (like Brunei), where ordinary citizens don't even pay taxes...where more people fly in Business/First Class than economy....
3)Kings/Queens/Prince/Princesses of the various smaller countries...
4)Some of the wealthies people in China...like those living in Shanghai...who may not exactly work for the $ they have. Hence US$2000 is really nothing for them!
Sorry I've never been to Europe or South Africa or South America, though I'm sure there are some good potential customers of Aura around these areas too.
Not that Vertu phones aren't expensive enough, indeed probably even the cheapest Vertu phone still costs more than the Aura. Though again the targeted customers of Aura look for uniqueness, so having the latest Vertu which looks like the original Vertu...if not some 1xxx series from the mother company, may no longer suit these people's needs.
For those who can't afford US$2000 for the Aura, don't worry, (speaking with shame!) a knock-off version from mainland China will be available within months after the Aura is released.
100 Moto, 23 Oct 2008Believe me, people who can afford US$2000 for a phone likely DO NOT care if the phone has all ... more100 Moto is so right. People that can afford this price for a phone (2000$) is because they want something special at looks, innovation not in features... only at looks...
That´s why this phone don´t have all features, because people that buy this phone only want to make calls, send messages....
Interesting design, features like i said are pretty well for a such a high-end device. What i want to see in more detail is the display... very rare and with a high definition...
In few words...a strange phone of motorola... good for rich people...:) so if you have money, buy it... can´t compare it to nokia´s arte... this phone is very different....
ME, 23 Oct 2008stupid design.. no features.. no 3G support.. why should i pay 2000$?
i would buy HTC or iphone That's because you won't pay US$2000 on any phone, period!
After reading the article below, I do think the phone is worth US$2000...though not suggesting I will get one. (as I can't afford any phone at that price...or even US$400 for that matter)
stupid design.. no features.. no 3G support.. why should i pay 2000$?
i would buy HTC or iphone
i think these phones migt be danggerus if flipping too fast is happen? What do u thinking?
OLAIS, 23 Oct 2008i agree with "rouxenator",they could at least had 5mp for this phone paying 2000 for it, or a ... moreBelieve me, people who can afford US$2000 for a phone likely DO NOT care if the phone has all the features you mentioned....or do most even "care" how to take photo with a phone, or getting on Internet with wi-fi and stuff.
They'll get the "status" they want as others are looking up to the person who can afford US$2000 for a handset. The rest is no longer important.
this phone is indeed a waste of money IMO
bear in mind however this phone is most likely not targeted at normal consumers!
Rouxenator, 22 Oct 2008Why is people so obsessed with how phones and electronics look ? It is a communications device... moreThen cars are merely a means of transport and no one should ever compare their design or features.
After all, they are just used to get from A to B.
Same stupid argument, don't you think?
