you can unlock the phone , but if you do go to a specialist, i have seen unlocked phones which brocked after unloking by amateurs. so go to a gsm servise or risk on your own.

to mars: i always make my mp3s at 22050Hz and the phone has no problem with it, it works just fine. actually, i think files at higher than 22050Hz sound the same as 44100, the difference (in quality) is because of the bitrate: the higher the bitrate, the better quality BUT the larger size...
