adihegde, 25 Jun 2011but in the motorola website also the update is not available in india . . They released it few... more2 things.
The upgrade is available via the service center. This is official and doesnot void the warranty.
However upgrading over the internet does void the warranty.
I chose to do the later one and I must say there are no bugs in the upgrade released by them.

[deleted post]For all buying this phone in India..You have 2 options to install Froyo.
1. Goto service center and get it upgraded
2. Do it yourself from the official rom available for download on the internet.
I'd say overall.. Defy is a good phone. I've been using this phone for 3months. Music quality is not bad. Good processor and RAM... I upgraded its OS to Froyo.. IT'S WAY BETTER with froyo than eclair. With Eclair, dude.. it really sucks. LOL It doesnt have secondary cam. and the cam quality.. hmm. id say.. i can endure it. ;) The Battery Life is good. just adjust your brightness within 40% and below. It's light weight.. uhm. good screen (Gorilla Glass). The lock screen for Android is only appearing when you turn on your phone.
PS: MOTO BLUR SUCKS. the thing i hate the most with this phone. quite disappointing.
All over the internet i see people complaining about the Defy's faulty earpiece.
There doesnt seem to be any way to fix it yet.
Motorola seems to have failed to satisfy the buyers complains and has made no official statement, as far as i know.
I really wanted to buy this phone, evethough Motorola has a bad reputation in my country for selling devices with gliches.
Not buying any Moto phone .-
I have updated my Defy to Android 2.2. now it works like crap, soooo slow and laggy.
Before update was so smooth and fast, i have to mention mine was a no Blur machine.
Is it true that the update installs Blur as well? Could that be the problem?
vonnn, 23 Jun 2011from the philippines:
i called memo express robinsons pioneer and they are selling this phone... moreIm also 'anonymous', the one that you've thanked.. :) i forgot to login.. :)
its difficult to find a defy in such low price if you will not pay it in cash.. if you are willing to pay it in cash, you can even get it for the price of P15,800..
guys please tell me which one is better ...defy or galaxy ace ...the cost difference is only 1k here..
I read on the Gsmarena review and all over the internet that it has a defective earpiece.
Is it true? Is there some fix for that?
from the philippines:
i called memo express robinsons pioneer and they are selling this phone for 24k???? for that price id just buy the galaxy s!!!
then i called memo express megamall and they are selling it at a discounted price of 20k???? id go for the desire s or the galaxy tab if the price is really that high!!!
im gonna buy a phone using a credit card with 12 months installment so i really need a cellphone shop to buy a phone. can anyone refer a shop where they sell the defy for 15k-17k that accepts credit card at 12month installment?? the only good news i heard from them is froyo is available for defy here in the philippines=)
I got my defy before 5 weeks n frm very first days i was noticing that its earpiece is cracking, n this problem was increasing day by day, i had read in many forums that it has a similar earpiece to few sony ericsson phones. so i changes its eapiece n put my old sony ericsson phone and its working perfect eventhough it sounds better than b4. I like my defy n now one and only problem has been sorted out.
mallikarjun, 20 Jun 2011its sucks with android 2.2...even htc wildfire s has gingerbread..defy is just poor and motoro... moreMaybe you will be happy using a left handed bell end, Clowns like you get all uppity because a phone doesn't have something, and you curse it, If you don't like it go play with your Wildfire budget phone somewhere else.
Jacob, 21 Jun 2011i think froyo is still not available here in phils, and im also still waiting for its official... moreI am in South Africa and when I checked on the Motorola site, and set my region to: "Africa, Asia" the update was available. It takes long because it is about 160 mb.
vonnn, 22 Jun 2011thanks Anonymous, but its still a bit blurry to me this rooting thing.. =) but can i for examp... moreRooting is east, you get one click rooting apps. Does not need to be Froyo to root. Froyo is officially available now and 2.3 is available as a custom rom.
