E398 has the best speakers - K700 do not have stereo sound.
E398 can record to Triflash card.
E398 has the best MIDI sound in the market
More over -it has Mp3 ring tones and a good speaker phone ..
E398 wins hands down to K700

The Video recorder from the K700 is also unlimit.And i think that the E398 cannot direct record too the MMC.

Is a old feature,the K700 has it too.
"50polyphony tones" Motorola's midi is worser than SE midi's and agains 40 Poly to 50 poly from Motorola,the K700 poly sounds better.

But not as good material like the K700 have.
And also the menu from Motorola is terrible unlike the K700 menu and interface.

I gotta question!!!!!!
I have seen on a few websites (http://www.phonescoop.com/phon...ne.php?p=305 and http://www.mobileburn.com/revi...urce=BROWSER and other places) that some version of the E398 does GSM 850, at least the Americas version.
Can anyone vouch for this? Is it true? How can I be SURE if i have (buying) an America's version that does 850?

This looks to be a pretty good phone. Definitely better than the K700... Why? Because it can accept memory cards! The K700 was a great design, but its useless as an MP3 player because of its small amount of memory. I have a Nokia 6230 with a 512mb MMC card, and I love it. I can store about 180 good quality mp3s on it, vs 10 or so for the K700. The only thing I dont like about the 6230 is its smaller, lower resolution screen. This is why I believe the E398 might end up being a better phone. Also, who cares about the video length and how many polyphonic samples a phone can do? The video on phones today is so low-res and compressed that its really just a gimmick. Who wants to watch 19minutes of Lego looking video? As for polyphany of ringtones... why not just use an MP3? Its always going to sound better than a MIDI ringtone. Just some thoughts...

Well, the E398 supports voice records for MMS - that's right. But the phone doesn't have a voice recording function as previous Motos. So you can't use it as dictaphone.

it has 3d stereo speakers, the best among all phones..it has bluetooth, obviously you can transfer files through bluetooth...it has external memory card, you can record as long as you want..

to be better than k700 it sould have:
-19 minutes video recording
-able to give and take images,video and mp3 via bluetooth and irda
-4xfocus on camera
-50polyphony tones
-3d new java tech
-stereo or radio
-be cheaper and smaller
-and i need a good agenda with6-8 phones to the same name.
please i would like to bye one these 2 phones do u no if this phone is good enough for my list or sould i just buy k700 or 6230?

No. There is a voice recorder. (see in the MMS application). Colors are black, white, blue and pink.

Bluetooth: What issues are you referring to? With SW 0B.09.38R I am not aware of any BT related problems...
Memory Card: The phone will be sold with a 64MB (at least in Europe) TransFlash card. This give the ability to store ~1h of music in MP3 format.

Just A couple Of Things Im Wondering About this Handset. 1. does it have a calander, calculator, organiser features. 2. It says it has video, is that just video playback or can this motorola actually record videos 3. does the Bluetooth work well, the motorola v600 had lots of problems with bluetooth so im wondering if that has passed onto this phone. 4. how many mp3's can be stored onto the 32mb memory card provided?????
