If when you say "gold one", you mean the one in the pic to the left, the photo does not do it justice. it really is silver but the finish is highly polished, and an odd light has been used to tinge the keypad gold. it also is quite silver. still, hold out for the dark silver/grey version, it really is an eye-catcher. and fuji, i was merely giving my opinion, you are entitled to yours. i actually stated the sound quality wasn't as good as the V3X, the next handset up from the v3, which, given that the V3X had stereo speakers is understandable. you cannot deny that this handset mimics the form of the v3 therefore people will expect it has similar flaws...which it doesn't.

chill man, fuji... I was asking, since both models are under Motorola and I did have bad experience with V3. So I just would like to clarify certain things with those K3 users. By the way, Im not blind.. -_-'''

the old v3 was indeed very poor in every way except style. the k3 is very loud in my opinion although a tad distorted at times. not as clear as the v3x which had stereo speakers. in terms of navigating the menu system there is no lag whatsoever. the fastest phone i have ever had, and with the HSDPA its lightning fast at downloading and sending photo messages. my only gripe would be the lack of a flash, which, as useless as it is for lighting photos, is handy as a general torch!

Hi zakiwashi, could you please tell me whether this K3 is way much better than the old V3? How about the sound quality, is it reasonably loud? Coz my old V3 sound was too soft though.. And how about speed in term of move into one menu from another?
Thanks a lot.

i personally like t9 better then itap, but it all comes out to the same thing in the end, i dont find any difference between this phone to others, motorola is pretty much down,
but if you like the phone i say it's the best choice of the motorola that's out in the market right now

forgot to mention the texting. Don't know what motorola have done with their previously unuseable iTAP but it works alot better. its still not T9 but i dont feel the need to throw the phone out of the window anymore. maybe i am becoming more placid in my old age. yes it has self portrait mode using the 120x96 external screen, you vain bugger! the voice commands actually work quite well, my wife and i spent a rather hilarious ten minutes or so barking commands at the handset with quite a good success rate, however the recognition is a bit bbc microcomputer-ish in the sense that you have to say peoples names as they are spelled, not as you would normally pronounce them.
to mfwaft who wrote "My mate said that this is the fone that Warf from Star Trek and Joe Longthorn own, can anyone confirm this???"
i can confirm this phone is endorsed by crooners and klingons alike, however getting a signal on klingon is another matter.

just to follow up, the opening mechanism is quite spongey and slightly spring loaded. when closed the flip has a small amount of lateral play on it. to souljabrian, don't buy a slider phone for your girl. she will only put it in her handbag with all her stuff and scratch the screen! this one's a lot harder to scratch. to those who think the interface is quite childish, i see your point but you can always opt for a list view rather than the icons. much more executive!

firstly this phone is beautiful. I have the blue/silver version which i got it to replace my awful contract lg shine which was the biggest disappointment of the year. The front of the flip is glass and metal, the rear cover of the phone is also metal, durable but dentable! I find the external speaker to be suprisingly loud and capable. At first the screen looks somewhat small however it maintains the 240x320 res of the v3x, which makes it look that much crisper. Also identical to the v3x is the menu system, which is fast and easily navigated. Unlike the v3x, the keypad, and infact the whole handset has a feel of quality about. Creaky v3x owners will know what i mean! I wont get bogged down with the camera as this really is a secondary feature and we aren't all David Bailey's! I can safely say, chuck away your mp3 player. This phone does it brilliantly. Lob all your albums onto your card( a 2gig will set you back £20?), insert into the phone and immediately it busies itself scanning for media. Now if all your id3 tags are up to scratch, you will be able to browse by album, artist, genre, most played and composer. Select an album, your tracks are all in order, click the first track and you are away, playing all the tracks in that folder, no mucking about with playlists( although you can still make a custom one if you want). This mp3 player works flawlessly with the motorola ht820 phones, and with the handset offering bass boost and spatial audio settings, your mp3's will sound ace. The v3x autonomy was, for me, an achilles heel. One day of calls and mp3 playing just about killed it. now i know this battery is brand new but i charged it the day i got it, went through a whole day of "new phone syndrome", as well as several short calls( telling everyone how good the phone was!) and over an hour of bluetooth mp3 playing, and the battery is still full. That was two days ago! I will post again if i find anything about this handset that bugs me, as for now it is the best handset i have ever used, coping admirably with everything i want out of a phone.
