Google's Android takes No 2 spot from iPhone in US
11 May, 2010, 0130 hrs IST, REUTERS
SAN FRANCISCO: Google Inc displaced iPhone maker Apple Inc to become the second most popular provider of smartphone software in the United States during the first quarter, the latest sign of the increasing competition in the fast-growing mobile market.
Smartphones featuring Google's Android operating system accounted for 28 percent of US smartphone unit sales in the first quarter according to NPD Group, behind top-ranked Research in Motion, maker of the Blackberry phone, which had a 36 percent share of the market.

It DOES come with qwerty in most places. The so called "error" you mentioned was designed for certain European users, where the GSM MILESTONE was first available.

if you prefer physical keyboard, milestone is the best. i found n900 bulky and slow - also ... moreDon't forget there is a keyboardless version of Milestone, the XT701...with additional features such as
- 9mm thick (let's see when the almighty brand can make such a thin touchscreen phone)
- Xenon flash
- Android 2.1 as new (no update require)
- costs about US$50 LESS than Milestone (for the keyboard!?), as XT701 costs around US$510 where I live. (unlock without contract)
fati, 09 May 2010i want buy a smartphone between milestone , x10 , iphone3gs , nexus one , n900 , desire PLE... more
if you prefer physical keyboard, milestone is the best. i found n900 bulky and slow - also check if nokia abandoned n900 / maemo-
iphone 3gs is a very nice phone with the biggest app selection but has poor battery life and no multitasking. For example if you chat on instant messenger and you answer a phone call, when you return to the app you need to wait for another log in.
between htc desire and nexus one ...that depends if you prefer htc sense ui or the stock android ui of nexus one and the Google logo on the back :)
x10 - never tried it but i guess since is bigger than desire it won't be easy to use it with one hand (few bugs were reported and its also using an older version of android until Q4)
if you don't want to wait for iphone 4 and you don't need a physical keyboard i suggest htc desire. if you prefer keyboard go with milestone!
I've seen quite a couple of people from SA posting their thoughts. I'm from SA as well and very interested in this phone! Can anyone tell me which MTN packages might carry it?
rhitik, 09 May 2010how much is the battery life of this phone,m plannin to buy 1 but battery life is critical to ... moreBattery life, depends on the use and network settings. i have 3g ON, i use Google talk all day for chat, sending emails, auto Gmail sync. I spend a lot of time talking, internet browsing, bluetooth ON, Wifi ON and it lasts from 7am till midnight. Thats better than my iphone 3gs which lasts from 7am to 9pm max (even with bluetooth OFF)
100 Moto, 07 May 2010Many HTC / iphones don't have secondary cams, does that mean they are not smart phones?I've the same case of rhitik, I'm waiting you expert reply about the optimum usage battery lifetime and what do you think in compare with the SE X2 fine competitor.
I'll go to Virginia, USA next week is there any recommendations about buying Milestone (prices or places to buy from)?
appreciate your soon and full reply very much
Im from SA, and this phone really caught my attention. but i first had my eye set on the SE satio. which one should i take? please give me advice based on experience, i dont want to be stuck with a problematic phone for 2 years as MTN and Vodacom do not sell neither of those 2 phones cash,so now im forced to take it on a contract Also ive heard that the HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps doesnt work in SA its the normal 7.1 is that true? also is what is the difference between the driod and milestone isnt it the same thing? if so why does the droid have free GPS and the Milestone only the trail version.
Please advise SOONEST.
Thanks i will really appreciate it.
