Last time I checked most phones are rectangle. Now that Moto made one like this.....it has no shape.....?????
LOL!!!
Just how many phone company's do you think made a phone like this? Let me give you a hint, Moto was not the first.

> In reply to 100 Moto @ 2009-10-12 06:38 from Er2M - click to readIndeed, you are correct.
Also, as I have been saying, this phone is made for texting and social networks. I know not everybody will like this type of phone, but then again that is why they make different phones for different people. you are also right about another point, when LG and a few other company's made a phone like this one, no one gave it such a bad review.
By the way, you can now get the QA1 for free now with a 2 year contract.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-10-07 08:27 from w4H4 - click to readToo costly? Do you even know how much this phone costs?

If there is any American reader here, kindly help if my analysis below is correct regarding the US market, so others from Europe or Asia or south Asia and everywhere else can have a better understanding why phones like A45 or QA1 is popular in US.

I was in US in Sept, and despite I only go there a few times in a year, I decided to get the Moto Karma QA1. the 2-year contract price is US$28 thru Radio Shack. (phone without contract would cost US$240) Surprisingly it costs twice as much thru AT&T itself. (US$49)

However, the monthly fee (with AT&T), despite the economic downturn, is STILL US$39.99 per month with 450 mins. (not a single drop in the past few years)

In Hong Kong, where I actually live, we've 5 different operators competing with each other furiously, and 3G service fee runs about US$8 per month, with over 1100mins of talk time. (and fees keep going down)

I fully understand US is a much much much (x100 x 100?) bigger place than HK, which requires lots of more cell sites, antenna, etc...however, do most people really go around the state / country most of the time? Or do they mostly live / work within the radius of a 20~30 mins drive?

I just spent US$700 to fix my 21+ years old car (change the timing belt and other services), plus US$90 to renew the car's license. Gas costs US$44 per tank (premium) which I used up 2 tanks in 2 weeks. Insurance costs the most but my brother paid for that.

So what does the story tell? For many Americans, a good portion of their monthly expense already goes to the cell phone monthly bills, car's gasoline and maintenance / insurance, etc...

Instead, most people around the world probably don't have cars like most Americans do, and chances are (others please elaborate) they don't pay as much for mobile monthly fees.

Hence most others around the world probably can spend US$500+ (if not more) for a phone, because they don't pay as much for other living expenses like most Americans do. While high end phones like HTC or N-series from the almighty brand don't seem to be doing well in US...probably many Americans (espeically those out of metopolitan areas) care little less if the cam is 5mp or 8mp, if the phone is smart or not (I actually looked for a book on Windows Mobile but couldn't find any)

One more fact is, sales of all the phones in California may exceed sales of all phones in many countries! So if most phone users (in US) only look for basic features, what's wrong for companies like Moto keep making these "basic" phones to cope with what the consumers want? I've seen similar design from Samsung & LG in US, do the same people who complained about Moto's design made the same comments in the Samsung / LG forum?
