I LOVE this phone. My husband is a computer tech, and also loves this phone. It is all around a great phone. It has pretty good battery life, the speaker phone works great, easy to use, and has a crystal clear screen.

Photon 4G records in 1080p but here in description is no word about it .. also i want to say about this phone that its amazing but needs some fixes like USSD-Codes that do not work in android- 2.3.5 on GSM networks.. and the last thing that i dont like is only 2 multitouch points.. is too bad that we have to root our phones to enable 8 touches .. in rest the phone is perfect , no lag at all , great display , fantastic graphics and no glitches...

> In reply to blacksgdhawk @ 2012-01-10 12:35 from KIgs - click to readHi,
Photon is perfectly eligible for ICS its upto motorola to provide it or not. But surely custom ICS Roms(Canyogen etc.) would come for it as its very popular model amongst developers they call it Mopho.
For 1080p Playback it has hardware(GeForce ULP) support for it and plays them smoothly without any framedrop.
Go and get it but if you want ICS right now then go for Galaxy nexus as its the most up to date phone and any new major or minor update first comes to Galaxy Nexus then after 4-6 months for others. So you decide. My favourite is Photon ;)

> In reply to guddu @ 2012-01-04 17:16 from 7XNi - click to readHi Guddu/ All,
Just tried UMTS 3G/HSPA of Idea Cellular on Photon 4G . I was able to achieve 4.01Mbps Down and 1.01 Up. The specifications say it as 3.1Mbps but that could be for EV-DO(CDMA) 3G of Sprint I don't know. I tried it on speedtest.net; on Cnet speed test it was 3.26Mbps average and meter was fluctuating between 4.2 to 2.8Mbps. I could have achieved higher results as Idea may not have high speed 3G as it claims of(21Mbps). Everything was running butter smooth better than Wi-Fi as my home Wi-Fi is less than 1Mbps.
I was just wondering of running it on 4G but is not here in India. Then I thought of Tikona's 4G WiBro but don't know which band it operates on or is it compatible with Photon 4G. Photon works on 2.5GHz band of Sprints WiMax and I came to know that it uses the same WiMax standard of 802.16e which Tikons WiBro follows; but frequency band could be different. If anybody knows abt Tikonas frequency band please post here. If frequencied are different then Photons WiMax radio might be tweaked by rooting for adapting diff. frequencies I don't know exactly; If anyone can shed light on this topic. We are having 4G in India from Tikona Digital Network but don't know much about WiMax bands, If anyone out there please give some details. Thx 4 reading.

> In reply to blacksgdhawk @ 2012-01-10 12:35 from KIgs - click to readMotorola is currently working on Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 for the Photon 4G to see how compatible it is with the phone. As of right now, ICS is not available on the Photon, but likely will be in the future.

> In reply to kitty @ 2011-12-04 03:53 from k@uU - click to readThere are some apps that allow you to tether without carrier as its the phone's capability not carrier's. But I think you will need to root the phone for that as Sprint might have S/W in the OS to notify about it as the OS is customized for Sprint. You will need to do some research for this as there are some articles about this on how to do it.
