RYk4,
Your are correct the A1200 & ming are the same I again made a mistake what I meant to put was the Rokr E6, Ming, E680, are all Linux PDA phones. I don't know what I was thinking when I put Symbian for V9. I know better but all is corrected & I apologize for my error's. To many phones to keep up with I guess.

Cokeman...

"The Linux OS is used for PDA style phones such as A1200, MING, ECT..."

The MING IS THE A1200!

http://www.gsmarena.com/motoro...200-1429.php

The top reads:"Motorola A1200...Also known as Motorola MING"

Don't worry, we all make mistakes.

Atleast you (unlike most people) admit to your mistakes.

It was a typing error. Give me a break. But so you know the V8 is Java Linux not Linux. The Linux OS is used for PDA style phones such as A1200, MING, ECT...But either way Symbian & Synergy OS is crap. So excuse me for being human.

Cokeman...

I know u mean well but desist from giving out wrong info especially since u've been modding for years and stuff... probably a typo error on ur part.

The V8 = Linux OS

The V9 = Synergy OS

The Z8 = Symbian OS.

Also... for all of those peole who continue to moan the Motorola does not have an OS... do ya'll even know what OS means... all it means is OPERATING SYSTEM. Ya'll talk like unless it's Symbian it's not an operating System. Ya'll must be thick as hell.

So u have Synergy OS, Linux OS, Symbian OS, Windows Mobile OS, etc...

I wonder where some of u get ur info from... REALLY.

For those asking about the difference between V8 & V9 here it is.

V8 Runs the new LJ OS (JUIX) meaning Java Linux, it is extremely powerful very easy to customize. There is no microSD card slot you either buy the 512mb or 2gb version. It has EDGE only no 3G (more on that later)

V9 Runs Symbian UIQ (very buggy) ask anyone who has used a Symbian based phone they freeze up a lot. Some swear by it though.
Has a microSD slot for up to 2gb (doesn't support microSDHC. It has 3G.

These are the main differences between the 2 phones. Now the reason the V8 doesn't have 3G is cause the new JUIX OS doesn't support it yet. Motorola is working on it but I think they aren't to concerned because there are very few 3G areas in the US.

Motorola is trying to make 3 platform phones.
Linux OS for PDA style functions such as Ming, E6.

Java Linux known as JUIX (pronounced Juice)
This will be the everyday midrange platform, This platform is far above any other OS I've seen. I have been modding phones for years. I've seen all the disadvatges to all of them. I have only 1 complaint about the JUIX OS. It requires a minimum of 8 clicks to enable/disable Bluetooth. A shortcut is needed for powering bluetooth on & off. Every phone that sports the JUIX platform will have a QVGA 2.2 (240 x 320) screen. Ask any E2 owner what they like best & the answer is screen quality it is amazing.

Then there is the Symbian OS. Why I don't know it has major problems & seems it always will. This will be limited to only a few phones.

I am using rokr e2. Even though it is presented as a test cell phone for the new JUIX (linux based) OS, I am telling to all of you that this OS outruns all the other remaining OS (for mobiles not PDA). Motorola worked on this system for three years, and definitely was not waste of time. V8 and V9 uses this OS. Extremely powerful.

why in the world is the V9 have a lower score than the V8? I like the V8 a lot but the V8 and the V9 aren't that much different. And most of the people attend to hate on the V9 more. I wonder why.

Market share of the world's top cell phone maker Nokia is rising, industry analysts said, after its closest rival Motorola warned investors of a second-quarter loss and lower sales.

Analysts said U.S.-based Motorola had lost market share, much of it probably to Nokia, which sells more than one in three cell phones in the world, news that lifted the Finnish firm's shares.

@ mse7, I know there are a few variants in the walkman series but the candybar style look the same. As for the V8 being a clone of the original, No it's not. The V3x is a clone the V3i is a clone they all look identical. My daughters have the v3xx & everyone sees them & think they are the V3. The V8, V9 are nowhere close in looks, UI, OS, power nothing is the same. (except for the camera location)
If anyone has not had the priviledge to use a Motorola phone with the LJ OS (Linux Java JUIX) you don't know what your missing. The Rokr E2 was the first to sport it. Anyone buys a V8, Z6, E2, is in for major treat. There is so much you can do with them it's amazing & the screen quality is out of this world.

G Said: "but moto just needs to design something different for a change"

And why would you expect a company to design something new when the design is just perfect, how come SE does not need to design something new when there are new releases or Nokia?

Ah... i know Nokia and SE fans are being drawn to new Moto ahha... I got it now.

Motorola please make some new design, one not to be so much desired by Nokia and SE people, and please Moto could you please use 7Mhz Amiga CPU and Amiga Workbench/Kickstart 1.4 OS instead? Please Please Please...

Seriously... get a life (some like 'B') people.

To Cokeman: actually, not all walkmans are candy bar phones. the w710/w300 are flips and the w580 is a slider. and yes, this phone is yet another razr clone from the real original moto. I'm not saying the razr has a bed design- it's one of the best- but moto just needs to design something different for a change.

For those that say they are tired of the razr design, thats nice, from my experience those people are usually nokia, SE, samsung fans. Someone actually said the phones style looks old...you've got to be kidding, it cracks me up . Whats the difference in the razr compared to the walkman series? None walkman series is the same old candy bar style with a few minor changes...Nokia is known for making bricks if it isn't 25mm thick we don't want it.
Now lets look at the Razr2 (agree a different name would be better) There isn't a standard phone out that can compete with the power of the V8 500mhz, oops I was wrong there is 1 other handset that out powers it, & guess what it to is made by Motorola. Rokr Z6 sports a 628mhz processor. There isn't a Nokia, Samsung, SE that can touch either of them. So gripe about the design all you want, but you know it's true...& now tha Moto is starting to expand the Linux platform you haven't seen nothing yet.

I do know the V8 is selling at CTI-Miami. But I'm not paying what they are asking & I'm definitely not buying right now. I have talked to a Cingular rep that I know very well. I'm not up for an upgrade just yet; so I had told him I was going to buy the Moto V-8 without a contract.

I had my mind on the V-9 at 1st; but after reading about both of these phones, I decided on the V-8. For a few reasons. One being battery life. The V-8 does have the better of the two. And they are still working on a few things with this phone. That's the reason alot of people are waiting.

The V-8 is going to sell for less than $500.00. And the V-9 may go a little over 5. I have been chomping at the bit for this phone; but I can wait a few more weeks if it means saving almost $100.00. In fact; I think it's Cell Hut that's already selling it for $494.00. It may be pre-order on that site; though. Because like I said. They aren't through with this phone.
