Your folks need to be more observant, or atleast not think too hard. When in iconic Main Menu mode, it says what it is at the top of the screen...
And I don't see how you cannot tell which icon means what. If it's a hard time for them, why don't they just change the Main Menu mode to List?

The fact that these people and myself like motorola, is because we don't need all the other communication features of an HTC and palm. We don't want to use a stylus for our phone or have one that resembles a size of a blackberry.
Thin and small, with design is what the RAZR is going after, and this V9 is the very crown of it. Just like how Nokia has their N95 and soon to be N82, the RAZR V9 is the top of the MOTO line.
If they can push this much into such a small size already, if they make their products as big as nokia's, then they'll have the whole world in the phone.
It's just a matter of time before they open up to be big again, but I don't mind when that'll be. Because Motorola will be the leader as they've shown right here.
To everyone else about the video calling, it's both 'sharing' and 'conferencing' because the front screen is touch sensitive, you control the call from the front, even when the phone is closed.

If Motorola can do it, Nokia can too. I mean, Samsung copied the MaxxV6 with their Ultra Slim II U700 and SE came out with their new W880 series. Coming out in metal too! When is Nokia going to discover that plastic is not the strongest way to go.
Motorola's even pushing to use the carbon tube sheet material for their phones while Nokia's still stuck using lunchbox material.

I don't know how great your eyes are, or even if you read about these phones, but they're not made out of plastic. It's all about matte and their titanium/steel casings now.
Nokia's all about plastic!

This phone is awesome.I like the shiny keypad and where u can read the msg on the front screen!awesome! Yeah true! most slim design phones tried to copy RAZR design. Im actually hoping that RAZR come with 3.2MP camera. Look at the new samsung Ultra-Edition II, all of the cameras is 3.2MP.It's time to get a better picture!

yeah motorola is the pioneer in slim design phones, look at SE and NK now trying to copy RAZR success in 2004 and now by releasing their low quality W888 and N76 (clearly and bad copy of old legend V3).

the reason most of u SE or Nokia guys Hate RAZRS is cuz People still BUY tons of RAZRS!!!! moto would stop building them if people would stop building them, most of the people i know owning a razr.... sorry i mean!
most of the people i know OWNS a razr! and most of them like RAZRS but they just pray for a new version with top functions! thats why RAZR2...
and samsung, lg, SE and nokias still copying SSlim Style from moto! cuz they love RAZRS TOO

This phone does have video calling. What you do is call them with the flip closed, use the screen on the lid and the camera.

This may explain why there is only "ONE" camera.

hey i though we need 2 cams for a video call...............and this has only one???how's it possible?????? and ya how can one make a call with the screen closed.....will someone explain why other phones with 3g have 2cams and this one with 3g has only one cam??

The Moto-lovers must not have owned earlier versions of the Razr, or else they'd understand why people hate on them.
This is a very attractive Razr, but the selling point for those who aren't getting it is the 3G network. Other than that... it's still the same old Razr.
All my friends... I mean this literally... ALL my friends own Razrs, all of them hate theirs (well, except for one). While newer Razrs offer improved durabiltiy and more functions, I think the old Razrs have pissed too many people off.
Whoever stated that you can't compared other phones to Moto's has never used a PDA phone such as Palm or HTC. Try a device that is a true communciation device, and all these other phones look like kids toys.

okay guys..no point fighting over this....
All i can say about this product is nice and cool design (all V series is cool design) I myself almost tempted for V6 but i called it off, why? Bcoz all Motorola phone always complicated to use with all their iconic menu, they never learn how to make friendly OS and User Interface. My folks got V6 and after few minutes in my hands already gave me headache coz how complicate and unusual menu it had not to mention respond time.
Btw, this RAZR2 V9 used only upgrade "Proprietary Motorola OS" not a Lynux as rumoured before.
So all i can say if u r only looking for a cool design then grab this phone, but for u who looking for easy, friendly user experience, easy navigations than grab Nokia or the upcoming Apple Iphone.

ok to everyone that wants FM... you seriously have to stop. if you dont understand why they put it on cheaper phones then you are dumb.
obviously people with not a lot of money are
going to buy a cheap phone. and if they buy a cheap phone then that means they dont have money to buy other stuff like A2DP compatible headsets. why do you want radio? its dumb.
nokia does it cause their phones are cheap and people still use wires. obviously motorola doesnt like wires. you need to use mototools if you havent. and the V9 is the best phone out in the market. yes there are smartphones and PDAs and all the other "business phones" but motorola incorparates this in a smaller more easier form that is still a phone.
and the 2MP camera is awesome. if you want more then buy a actual expensive camera. remember its a phone. duh. and the price on this will not be a lot because motorola is really pushing this phone. its in every website for all countries of motorola. they didnt even do that with the MAXX V6. tells you a lot.
oh and they are going to also bring out a satalite radio. kind of like XM but motorolas version. the video confrencing is viewed form the external screen using the only camera on the phone. no second camera. why need it when you have to screens? the external screen is bigger than most screens on other phones. haha.
and yes the other OS on razrs were plain but this new one on lynux is incredible.

Dear Moto Haters
Motorola phones are the best in the market. i can prove this. someone said that their technology sucks. thats not true because motorola has always had the newest technology in its phones. i have bought 2 motos(2 and 3 years ago) and they are STILL STATE OF THE ART. nokia always makes its phones like big deal, but they suck and always will. if someone needs bricks they can get them off the wall. motos are the most practical, user friendly, full with functions and have the best software, especially the now ones that run on linux, they are unbelievable. ok thats all i have to say for now.

P.S. if you people hate motorola so much, than what are you doing reading and posting comments here. go to nokia and Sony-E.s forums and write whatever you like, because you can never change our mind about MOTOROLA
