the Z8 supports mp3 ringtones. it will also play back aac,wma and many more file types. get rid of you v3i and get with the times!!! dont base you assumptions on the phone that has been out for over 2 years.

please inform me when this thing's already out...
Although it doesn't even have an fm radio, it looks cool.
Motorola's got a lot of catching up to do, and it looks like it's already starting with it...

i do not imply that this will be better than E90 and iPhone, they have differences like higher resolution screens, etc.
but when it comes to the insides, with RIZR Z8's texas instruments ARM processor, they will function virtually the same.
also the E90 doesn't take more than 2gb microSD cards. infact nokia hasn't announced any phones that can go to the new 4gb microSD expansion.
meanwhile the RIZR Z8 with a 4gb card will hold more memory (because iPhone's memory also has the operating system on it) than the lower priced 4gb iPhone not to mention the price will be much cheaper.
iPhone also doesn't have HSDPA, it will be locked to one carrier whenever Apple selects a european partner and no third party applications.
this of course doesn't matter because this will be out months before iPhone. by the time iPhone comes out in june, motorola will be preparing for their next phase of handsets: SCPL, includes new touchscreen models to better compete with iPhone.

when it comes to multimedia performance, it will surprisingly be comparable to nokia e90 and iPhone.
it features the TI-2420 ARM processor, the reason why the 30fps video and the interface were reported to be so fluid in that review i previously posted. when you turn the screen sideways in landscape mode, it will be the same as video on an iPod.
the TI-2420 is the same processor used in nokia's new N800 internet tablet and if not the very same one found in E90 and iPhone, it will be in the same league.
motorola finally splurges in 2007 and starts putting the good stuff in their phones. you'll see them in a whole new light by their special event this summer.

About Real Player:
Well the v3i cant play Real Media but nearly all new motos does (exept low-end ones), they can play format that are even't listed such as .svg that is some kind of metavideo

two other points i found interesting:
"Even more impressive in some ways is that the video capabilities have been further enhanced by the presence of the Sky by Mobile app that has been developed in associated with weComm. Sky by Mobile allows you to access the full Sky Electronic Program Guide and, with one click, record a program on your home Sky+ box. It also allows you to stream Sky TV (25 channels available) directly to your handset via a 3G connection.
The popular multimedia upload application, Shozu, will also be preinstalled in the Z8. Shozu allows users to upload images and video to a number of popular photo and video sharing sites, such as Flickr and YouTube, as well as supporting sending of multimedia to email addresses and remote servers."

Rafe Blandford from AllAboutSymbian just posts a nice review of his use with the RIZR Z8.
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com..._Preview.php
some highlights:
"an alternative colour scheme was seen in the presentation at Symbian’s press conference. It is likely there will be a range of colour combinations released over the lifetime of the phone."
"The Z8 has the potential to be an iconic phone for Motorola, in the vein of the RAZR and its design-led successors. The majority of people will not buy this phone because it is a smartphone, but rather because it looks good. A small number will buy it based on what it can be used for – watching video and programming a home TV. Both sets of people will be able to discover the extensibility of the device and its software platform. It is this potential that holds considerable promise. Moreover, users will be pleasantly surprised by the quality and usability of the user interface, an area where Motorola has traditionally under achieved."
"Video can be played back at up to 30 frames per second and in the demo I saw playback was crisp and smooth. Motorola expect consumers to fit up to 10 feature length films on to a 4GB microSD card. Motorola will be shipping a 512MB microSD memory card with the phone that will include a full movie as a demonstrator of the film playback capabilities."
"The Z8 runs the latest version of UIQ - 3.1, which was announced last week. It is the first UIQ non-touch screen device and the display was nice and bright (and shouldn't suffer too much in sunlight). All the UI interaction is carried out via softkeys. The demo phone I saw showed an extremely slick and speedy interface; given some of the early software problems with Sony Ericsson’s UIQ phones, this was very impressive."
"The Z8 will be available in Europe in late March or early April. Availability will follow in Asia a few weeks later. A USA variant is also likely."

Ok! But still Motorola dos not support real player, media player and all other software like Nokia since that I have Motorola v3i and I have problem sharing those kind of video and audio files with my colleague like nokia.

OK, a Symbian Moto... lets see if they can do a good job, because SE and Nokia don't seem to know what to do with it apart from make inherently unstable handsets. Whoever it was AGAIN biggin up the K800i and the N73... please use one of these phones for a couple of months. I'll be the one in the store pointing and laughing when it has to be returned to the manufacturer and you end up with a POS loan phone.
This phone would be great with a newer visual design... the RAZR design is quite old, but the idea of a 'kick slider' is pretty nice... a slider that fits your face in the way that a flip does!

About MP3 Ringtone, i think "GSM Arena" has wrong information. All "Motorola High End and Middle End Mobile" has MP3 Ringtones & multitasking because that's one of other basic feature Motorola. My "Motorola Rizr Z3" can use MP3 to be Ringtone.
If you want "FM Radio" just buy mobile with "FM Radio". FM Radio is not important feature.
