came across this site lokn for a startac. ok im from the bahamas i just wanna kno if any type of startac works with a prepaid gsm sim card? i really want one that i can use. i loved the startac wen i was an owner of 1. please answer

I still own one, and itīs kept very safely....What a phone.....This phone not only created a new niche market of clamshels, but it showed the world that motorola was indeed number in the world....If only they had invested more on software.....a shame....
Still best phone ever by the american manufacter....even the RAZR, wasnīt able to beat this one....

I bought a phone form retrobrick over a year ago and it has been fine. I had a slight problem with the first one they sent and they replaced it immediately.

WARNING, if you want to buy a Startac phone, be careful with Retrobrick.com. I paid a hefty price for a used one and it lasted 3 days!
No comment from them after that.

So funny the other day, right, I was really bored, so I watched an old video tape of some shows, taped back in 1997-1998, and there was an ad showing this phone, and it said it was the thinnest phone in the world, I laughed so hard :P

How to get the Manual for this phone:
1. Go to http://direct.motorola.com/hel...to/index.htm
2. DO NOT SELECT YOUR "REAL" COUNTRY! You should pick "United Kingdom", otherwise you will not get a full list of phone choices. Now click the orange button next to the country selection box. This takes you to next page.
3. Click the "support" button on the top right hand corner of the page.
4. Now look on the left hand side of the new page ... there should be an orange colored menu... one of the options there is "manuals"... click on this!!!
5. Now, "select category" = "all phones"
6. Select Model = "StarTac 130"
7. Select Language = "English" - only one they have!
8. Click the big orange OK button.
9. You now have bad pdf of manual!!!

Again, I love this phone. It was the only one that survived many a cold winter at Cornell, and being dropped at least 400 times in the 4 years that I had it. Please someone start a petition to Motorola and have them just add the GPS to the phone so that all of the faithful can resume worship of this magnificent phone!
