The W510 and W490 are identicle physically, but the only difference (to my knowledge) is the W510 has Push To Talk and the W490 doesn't because the W490 is for T-Mobile and T-Mobile doesn't support PTT.

hi jorge and tytn, thanx for the suggestion. jorge yes my contact list is in order and also i tried with my friend SIM card, still it doesn't work. is there some problem with the phone itself? or do i have to adjust some settings in the phone? let me know once again plz, thanx

Some phones annoyingly let you select only the first letter of a name. Imagine what it is like to scroll all the P names when you have like 40 contacts starting with that letter.
It was the only thing I hated in my SE k700i.

I really don't know, but maybe you should take the phone to the place where you bought it, 007. Explain and check if the other phones do the same. I suppose it is a fault in yours.

The functionality you're talking about is present in all cell phones (I guess), and of course the w510 has it.

It works perfectly in my w510.

Is your contact list ordered ?

hello everybody,

i purchased the Motorola W510 2 days before, just curious if anybody face the same problem. while punching specific alphabet on my sim or phone contacts it doesn't take me to that, i've to scroll all the way from top to bottom. for example, let say i want to call "samantha" for that i press "S" or "SA" or "SAM" and it should take me to all the contacts starting with "S", on my phone it doesn't. does anybody have the same problem or this phone doesn't have this feature? please suggest.

It's a good phone, but I am really angry about the camera zoom. It is a big lie.

If you take a picture with 2X Zoom, it is half size compared to a normal picture. If you take a picture with 8X zoom, the picture file is 8 times smaller that a normal one, so, apart from what you see on the screen, there is no zoom at all.

For any w510 owners: Does the keypad leave indentations on the screen like the way the K1 does? Can anyone provide a link of sample pics to show the quality of the camera? Are the mp3 ring tones pretty loud on this phone?

This has been a good phone from day 1. it looks simply gorgeous. I actually bought another one for my girlfriend and she loves it. I think this is the phone you may want to buy for its useful feature. Great phone!

Very good phone. Compared with V3i has an bad camera but the quality of talking and the qulity of sounds and music tones is mutch better. I wold like to know if W490 is the same phone or what are the deferences

Maybe your provider has blocked the option to apply your mp3 as a ringtones cuz you didnt pay the copyrights (Yeaaaa Right). But someone told me you could see your provider to unlock it OR you can flash your phone (but you can also break it by doing that). I had the same problem so i've changed my phone. Good Luck!

There is some programs, that you guys can find on Net, called MP3 to ringtones or something like this. With those programs you can extract any part of the song, place it to Tones folder in your phone and set it as ringtone. Good luck in your search!

Can u set MP3 as your msg tones? Does this phone have software problems similiar to the K1? Will it freeze up during calls or simple browsing? Really appreciate the help. Where can u download games 4 this phone?

I just bougth the phone and he is so nice. Do you guys know how to use a mp3 for ringtone ? I tried with Motorola Phone Tools and it is not working ?

Great phone. I've owned several Motorola cellphones and this is the best so far. Way better than V3i, not only in features but also in price. Battery life is very good. It gives all that it promises.
The only con I've found so far is that there are not many customization tutorials yet, but I think it's just a matter of time until someone comes up with them.
Really cool cell. I recommend it 100%.
