Skater42 if you hsve laptop or an TFT-monitor on your pc try changing the color on it from true color (16.7million colors) to high color (65000 colors) and if you can see the difference there is something wrong with your monitor. Everybody knows the human eye can see up to 12 million colors or so but we are talking about a screen limited by pixels here not real life.

the Japanese culture is changing...

btw this phone won't come out in Europe. If you want something better than this and that will come out in Europe, check the Sharp 902 out.

If you know a bit of the Japanese culture, then you should understand that Japanese people keep the best product for local user & never export officially them.

Color Difference:

The human eye can differentiate between 10 million colors, "side by side"
(Color Phenomena, Online, http://home.wanadoo.nl/paulschils/05.00.html)

Now this means that if we hold a 65K phone to a 262K phone...we should see the difference...and we do.

I uploaded a picture from my computer on to my GX20 (65K) and I could see that it wasn't as bright as my pic on the PC.
The picture was an iceberg off the coast of greenland and was thousands of shades of blue. I could tell the difference.

When you have a very high contrast in colors, like a sunset or a fading white wall (white to grey) you will see that the 65K screen displays "rings" because it doesn't have enough colors to render the background correctly.

We cannot say, oh this picture only has 65K and this one has 32-bit...not from memory (Color Phenomena). We need to compare them.

That's already it for me, cheers

Brick Design: My comment

Many of you here are convinced that this phone is a brick...

You can't compare these phones with regular GSM phones. UMTS Phones incorporate TWO technologies, WCDMA and GSM.

If you compare the 902SH (SHARP), 802SH, 802N (NEC), 802SE (Sony Ericsson) then you will see that they are all around 10 cm in size.

For a flip fone with 320 x 240 px screen resolution, up to 2MPx camera and 3G broadband technology that is NOT big.

My GX20 is only something like 5-8 mm smaller and feels really comfortable in my hand with a big enough keypad and screen to actually see what's on. But it only has half of those features.

Now we look at some regular Bar-Phones.
The Nokia phones are around 10.8 cm's in size, but their screens are smaller in resolution and the keypad....well, guess. The new 6670 or even the 7610 are a bit bigger and no one every complains about them.

So I think that too many of you compare UMTS phones with GSM phones, but it's not quite fair.
It's a bit like comparing a Diesel Motor with a regular unleaded. Different Technologies...different requirements.
So either you want UMTS and accept the size, or you just want a regular GSM...there're heaps of small ones out there (Siemens, Samsung, LG)

the difference between 262K and 65K can't be seen with the human eye.No way.The difference is so evident and can be seen easily. Have you actually compared them? Look at the P900 and P910i. The screens are so different. The P900's screen's colors are high color and dull whereas the P910's are brighter, more saturated, better and true color. Big difference. Massive. Just a speculation. I own both. anyways this 'thing' is so crap and blue. its ugly and big. megapixel camera is the only special feature on this phone, never mind the secondary camera. at this moment this phone is nothing special. lets hope the production version will have slimmed down, without the horrible color and another design plus more features. it's obviously a high end phone so they must make it behave like one! i'm not impressed!

this is still preliminary information, and the difference between 262K and 65K can't be seen with the human eye. Plus the ultra high resolution of the screen (QVGA 240x320, the same as Sharp GX30,802,902) wil make up for not having 262K

The camera is real good but it does not seem to have bluetooth or a 256k colour screen. Also, the brick design is horrible (and that color as well!). Oh well, we can always hope for next time
