Good phone, after getting it all to work.
Video IS image only,NO sound- it records by quickly taking pics so when played back they `move`.
MMS SETTINGS FOR ORANGE
Menu--select--MMS--Setting--MMS server--make sure Orange MMS is selected with a black dot--select--Edit--should read http://mms.orange.co.uk --ok--Activate

after this press Back--WAP profile--should be Orange MMS with black dot--select--Edit--

Homepage should read http://mms.orange.co.uk --OK
User ID is Orange --ok
Password is Multimedia -count the x`s to make sure there is 10,if not delete all x`s & retype Multimedia carefully because you can`t see what you are typing
IP Address is 192.168.224.010
Dial Type is GPRS--select--Always online--select--orangemms--ok--Back--Back
Push access is Off--select
Port is 9201--OK
Show images is On then press RED button to return to start screen.

When in mms/settings you have to select & ACTIVATE Orange mms for both MMS settings AND WAP profile, but when in WAP you have to select and activate Orange GPRS wap
SETTINGS FOR ORANGE GPRS WAP

User ID is Orange
Password is Multimedia
IP is 192.168.071.035

Once the settings are right, you should have full use of your phone without having to reselect the profiles each time...works for us(4 of these phones as pressies in the family, including a n oap with slow fingers....)

Hi, I had problems with my battery-life until I got my provider (vodafone) to upgrade my SIM card. Since then my batter lasts much longer. Older SIM cards use more battery power on modern phones.

Take a look at this Help page at carphone warehouse - it provides the settings for most networks - otherwise ring O2.

So, it seems that you can have either the mms or the wap settings but not both at the same time. I found that Orange customer service was (as usual) unhelpful and so I replaced the 'wap' settings with the mms ones and bob's your uncle, I can recieve and send mms messages! hurrah!

As to the USB cable: I asked NEC and have been told that I can purchase it (in the UK) from a company called Seme. The phone no. is 01664 484092. It'll only work with Windows 2000 and Windows XP PCs, no Mac, no Linux. Pricing is (an outrageous) £18+ incl. VAT and postage and packaging. They don't currently have it in stock, it'll take 10-14 days until they do.

Carphone Warehouse got back to me saying they don't have it in stock either and don't know when they will, but when they do they intend to sell it for £30, which is 5p more than I had paid for the phone. Unbelievable.

I can't turn off my constantly flashing key pad! This is driving me crazy. It pulses at about 10 second intervals. There is nothing about it in the manual & at night it's like having a cop car in the room with me (unless I put it in a drawer of course) HELP HELP HELP

Thanks, I am aware you can send an MMS but that costs money whereas simply copying pictures directly to the PC would be free (except for the one-time payment for the USB cable).

Hi with regards to a USB lead - haven't found one, but it is very easy to send your photos etc to PC via MMS, just set it up and it asks you if you want to send it to number or email - simple!
But I'm still having problems downloading ringtones, I've got them sitting waiting, but everytime I try to download it says file too big - Please someone help!!!
