I just got the N412i quite recently, because of the look, some features and the price (I got it at $0 with a 2-yr plan from Starhub, Singapore).
However, I'm experiencing some problems. Initially when I plugged in the phone with the data cable, and put in the PC tools CD, it said that the software "is not windows logo approved", and told me to either go ahead with the download or stop downloading.
I initially chose stop downloading. Now the computer doesn't even sense the phone when I plug it in.
I've tried manually installing the CD into the computer, but they give me the same "not windows logo approved" warning. And even when I chose to continue with the download, it cannot progress, because the same notice will keep popping up.
As a result of this, I cannot put in mp3s from my computer into the phone.
It's as if the computer blocked my phone? What can I do? I'm thinking of calling my local NEC Care Centre.
Also, I would like to know if it is possible to transfer photos from the phone into the computer.

This is the only phone Ive had to date that I get perfect Cingular reception indoors and out. Easy to use inteface. Free mp3/vid/pic xfer software via NEC's website. Stereo handsfree w/2 earbuds and stereo mini jack to plug any headset in. All the std features w/ some new cool ones. You can record your call live and save 1 min clips! Great design too. Thinner than the Razr w/ 1.3 mp cam. On ebay for around $120 shipped

I like the design of this phone, but this is not a friendly user phone. The camera sucks!!

I already answered that stupid question about Picture Messages and MMS,
you need to make sure its set on your phone, and then ring your service provider, who will set up the rest!

it doesnt have a usb port on the fone....
it has a cable that plugs into ur fone, which links to ur computers usb port.

+ good design, beautiful phone,
signal/sound is good, ok camera.
- crappy software, unintuitive user interface.
have to navigate through a wadload to send new SMS (vs. Samsung's one-click shortcut).
and um, where is the USB port???? please contact me if you could help.

coooooooooooooooool set,slimmer than v3i.unique key pad and it has got backlight.but poor picture quality.love to own.

What about Voicemail Alert? I see no Voicemail Indicator to let me know I got a vociemail? When I go to message menu, There is Nothing to highlight? Help?

with the picture messages and online mode, you will prob need to ring your service provider to enable it, thats what i had to do

hello y wanted to now if the outside LCD display shows you for example who is calling you besides the hour the day signal and battery status and what color is the backlight keypad thanks

i cant get online on my phone, i cant sent picture messages. i cant do a lot of things. how do i fix this??

um, it does have a backlight on the keypad....
maybe you should check your settings, or visit a repair shop lol.

Well, this phone does not have a backlight on the keypad. That makes it very hard to dial in somewhat dark places (inside car at night). The battery does not last very long. Those are my two major complaints, everything else is great.

if the phone is I-Mode locked, i dont think its worth it, well, it just depends what you want the phone for, but there are alot of restrictions with I-Mode, otherwise the phone is great.
