The music recorded on this phone can be played only on the same phone due to MagicGate DRM protection. The music recorded from any other device on the memory stick cannot be played by the phone. MSA files are encrypted and the key is provided by coupling *that* memory stick with *that* phone. This is why only Magic Gate memory sticks can be used. It is not very different from having a built-in internal memory.
Anyway, the phone can read .txt and .bmp files uploaded to the memory stick from an external device. This was state-of-the-art when this model came out in 2001.

This uses copy-protection (MagicGate) so I think that you'll have to use SonicStage. Also, I don't think this supports memory sticks over 128MB because they weren't out when this phone came out(correct me if I'm wrong).

This phone was good back in the days, possibly the first phone with built in MPŁ player? My Brother was saying that the siemens SL 42 was the first fone with built in MP3.
