'but bluetooth is widely usable, why do you need to use usb when you can do it wireless ?'
Well USB 2 is around 200 times faster for one thing, who has time to transfer at roughly 10MB a minute?

> In reply to [deleted post]I cannot speak for the X1, but I owned the HTC Touch Pro.
X1 - 512MB Ram, 256MB Rom, Qualcomm 528MHz CPU, X Panels
Touch Pro - 288MB Ram, 512MB Rom, Qualcomm 528MHz CPU, Touch Flo 3D
My experience with WinMo was bad. My iPhone stuck as many times as I can count on one hand with fingers left over. My HTC Touch Pro crashed several times in the brief time I owned it. Sometimes I would see that multi-coloured wheel come up where the phone was thinking for a few seconds as I navigated from screen to screen. And my ultimate problem with WinMo is there are certain things that are hard to "grab" using your thumb. The OS kind of forces you to use the stylus no matter how big some of the icons are (checkboxes, scrollbars, icons at top are all too small to finger).
WinMo is not close. I hear Android is and I would like to try it but I have not seen a handset I really like yet (Magic is okay).

because this most definitely voids warranty Dibert, and if your phone's malfunctioning or ceased working, how will you change its settings before you return it?

Actually I love having billions of options, something to choose from, a feeling that there's nothing I can't do. I think I'm gonna try Windows Mobile... Thanks, and sorry for being off-topic. iPhone is OK for simple people I guess. I know a lot of people who get headache from having to read too many letters, actually they are the majority and if iPhone makes them feel good, good for them.

oh well let me teach you something buddy those pride capabilities that you're talking about have been on other phones for over the past 4 years and to mention new phones have better capabilities like D1 and HD recording and have more features than your outdated iphone. next year go brag about the bluetooth that is needed while other phones will probably brag about wireless recharging. isheep

fantastic points well articulated - that sums it up the iphone is not the first to do it full-stop, but certainly the first to do it really well.

> In reply to apt.pupil @ 2009-07-04 01:13 from PP$8 - click to readThe Iphone is all about efficiency, fluidity, and simplicity. Where windows mobile has like 30 drop down boxes, Iphone has 2 or 3 main options to choose from. Most everything you would want to do is easily possible, with the exception of bluetooth FTP which is widely unused anyway.
The quick and seamless interface is what sells the Iphone also. Pretty much every other phone ever has had a laggy interface and choppy switching of applications. The Palm Pre is no different, as sometimes I waited more than 15 seconds for a program to open (or close).
When people claim that the Iphone is the first phone with video editing and "video recording", they don't necessarily mean that its the first phone that can do it. It's the first phone to really pride itself on those capabilities, and doing so on the Iphone is easier than on any other phone. Why else would youtube submissions go up 400% within days of the 3GS being released?
It has nothing to do with the capabilities, and more to do with accessibility. If AT&T or Tmobile were to sell phones like N97 or Omnia II then I'm sure many more people would get them. Not enough people know to go buy full-priced phones, most settle for whats cheaper with a 2 year contract.

Ah the iphone and the civil war it sparks. The problem is not the iPhone haters or the iSheep followers, but the general audience that you get on this site. People come on GSMA to read about the latest and greatest technology in phones. Phones with massive storage, huge screens, large MP cameras, and all the fancy features that you can cram into a portable device are "oooh'ed and aaah'ed" while the more modest phones are bashed because they are missing something. It seems like a sin for a manufacturer to put out a phone without wifi, 3G, or a camera with less than 5MP.
I have used a few smartphones and the iPhone works the best. The way it operates is superior and that is why people love it. The iPhone was selling well way before it had tons of apps. Yes, you can get an iPhone with problems but that is true with any man made device.
The iPhone will never need to be the most technologically advanced phone on the market as long as the OS works better than the others.

I work in a shop, selling phones and taking in damaged phones all day. Believe me when I say Apple does a great job, it is still to date the most userfriendly phone and it works unbelievable smooth. Only the recent Diamond II and Pro II are somewhat equal when one compares everything.
I mean, once every year I use the bluetooth application on my smartphone, mms? never.. GPS? I have a brain, I can find my way
