The Omnia i900 was released in Singapore first, then a few firmware updates where releases before releasing it to the world.

I think Samsung will trial the phone in Singapore to iron out any bugs.

Straighten up.

This phone was supposed to be released by October and this was just a surprise launch.

You might have mistaken this phone with the S8000 JET. (they do look kinda similar, I don't fault you.)

ANYWHO I hope this phone retails with a lower price than announced, because I do want it more than the JET, but price differences will be the judge. ^_^

The hardware sounds excellent but it is totally wasted on the ancient old WinMo O/S which has barely changed in the last 8 years!

Omnia 1 is pure rubbish...poor response in touch input, really bad interface mixed with the one from windows core, slow overall system, buggy (causing some crashes now and then).

Omnia HD moves great and has well appreciated features for the technologies available at this moment, but it's still a brick-phone...difficult to carry in pockets.

I hope Omnia 2 will bring the speed of Omnia HD into the stylized body of Omnia 1.

Just been into a store in Samsung Singapore..tested out the new Omnia II i8000 and it is great..due in 18th July...I have a friend who works in a mobile phone repair store in the UK and has been repairing phones for 12 years..he recons this is one hell of a phone and although Samsung are to bring the HD into market in a couple of weeks, the HD on mobiles is still in infancy so maybe expect some gliches especially in the pixels. He has never had to repair any of the 1st generation Omnia so recommends the II over the HD. A choice of preference but he has always fed me the most accurate info. I have had a Nokia E90 for 2 years and had a big issue with Nokia service center in Singapore when it needed to have a mic changed. They told me it was un repairable...sent it to UK and my mate got it fixed for me easily. Nokia here would have nothing to do with it. So i decided to change brands for the obvious reason. Truely believe I am making the best move ever.

this is a WinMo phone, isn't it? that's the deal-breaker for me...the Omnia HD is Symbian based....

AMOLED display is advantageous with respect to light weight, less power consumption, mechanically stronger, etc. but after about 200 hours of operation, it's display brightness is reduced to 50%..........

so choose wisely, great technology tho

This seems all one would need. Blackberry functionality, with Winmo flexibility and Touchwiz to make it all accessible with a finger rather than a silly stylus. Decent screen, good camera, office 2007 compatibility, colourful menus, and music and video capability if you want it. Price reasonable. So only question is who is going to carry it in the UK and WHEN is it available? I am ditching the very poor BB Storm as Storm 2 seems to offer poor specs and no advantage over the Omnia 2, so why should I risk another BB and give RIM a second chance?
