iPhone 3GS awarded the Euro smartphone 2009 title by EISA - read the full textEISA - the European Imaging and Sound Association - announced its 2009-2010 awards for mobile devices and greenness. cmon, w995, omnia... any phone has better specs (yeah, apple store can be countered by mobile9.com) "You now can share your iPod music files via Stereo Bluetooth to your hi-fi equipment at home, or headphones, assuming that these too incorporate a Stereo Bluetooth facility." *yawn, even the old w900i has this. "Smart functions have been upgraded as well: you can now cut, copy and paste, and MMS is possible, as well as tethering or video recording." wtf?! mms and video recording is supported even on the ancient w800, tethering is supported by almost any 3g phone out there. the camera has no flash... so, for what is this phone good? touchscreen is good, but typing on even the standard mobile phone keypad is faster, and don't mention the fingerprints... yeah, smartphone, but can install only apps from app store, so no java or any other 3rd party app outside app store... and all this for "just" $992 (for 8gb unlocked model)... cmon, why is this phone awarded, buy the omnia hd or w995 or n86 which are much cheaper and give more (better camera, flash, can multitask, can send files over bluetooth out of the box...). I know this can be gotten with jailbreaking BUT why jailbreak when you can get it out of the box. and while you mention jailbreaking, we can use a2uploader to mod camera, sound, display etc. for se w995...

Unlike last year, this time the awards really hit the spot. The Omnia and the iPhone really deserved it. I believe that what makes a smartphone great is the option of adding new features, and the iPhone clearly allows that, even if it failds at other things. The Pixon12 shouldn't win because HD video recording, which is something grounbreaking when it comes to phones, is more important that 4 extra megapixels. Camera resolution isn't that important anyway.

i never trust those award giveaways for mobiles - cuz everytime i see one they give it away to a phone that is out of winning area . last time they gave away the award for the well balanced option phone to s.e. w910 which is no where near well balanced options , thats in last mobile world congress event . many have refused it . and this time the i phone . these are all marketing gimmiks . they want to sell the phone as much as they want to . dont fall for tricks .

for eg - take a look at some of the pc video games - they get so many awards by some magazines and companies months before they get released to the gamers .

and now take a look at how they have given away the awards none of the brands have been choosen for two awards or more its like apple / nokia / samsung / lg in order .

I'm worried that apple will overhype their upcoming overpriced gadgets and those thingamajigs WILL SELL because people would be blinded by the hype. Talk about highway robbery!

What the heck are you waiting for, virus makers? Now is the time. Jump ship to OSX and leave s60 alone. It's now or never. Wipe the smugness in this world!

Why are you saying you can't multitask on iphone. I can use skype, messenger plus play a game on my iphone just fine. I also can transfer files via bluetooth even though i don't use it very often. All you need to do is jailbraking your iphone amd you can do wonderful things. You can download videos from youtube, and many other things

i think the greatest edge of Iphone 3gs is the apple store, good hardware+good OS+great apple store= i think overall winner(for now)

but of course there are phones that have better hardware than Iphone, but not so good OS though...

and android market is still young so lets just wait and see for the next few months how it will compete with apple market

one negative thing for me is the price (oh its apple its got to be expensive hehe)

what makes iphone a great device is not its functionality
just as you guys mentioned, it can't multi-task, can't share things via bluetooth and so forth
but ordinary folks don't care about these geeky stuff, that's why iphone sell so well all over the world.

iphone may not be smart enough for those techies, as they're way smarter than their phone. for the rest of the world, it allows them do things in ways they have never been able before using a phone.
iphone itself is smart, and that really matters

Oh hi there, can you bluetooth that song to me?

No, sorry I can't this is a 5800 XM and that song came from Nokia's Comes with Music service so the DRM won't let me.

Can you use it as a ringtone?

Nope.

Message tone...
