It's a joint venture between the 2 companies (though most people and the media know that it's Sony that's really in charge of most of the design and engineering aspects of the phones)!

Reason... N. America (particularly USA) is NOT a phone market for SE! Ouch!

But SE is SLOWLY trying, at least with 1 or 2 models through ATT and their Sony Styles retail stores!

Dont u know what the meaning of Xperia? Xperia comes from the word Experience. It means that SE wants to offer the phone that soo different than any other phone in the world. This is a new experience. How many of you, use tranparant screen phone? I bet $10000 u dont. And remember, X1 is the first arc sliding design phone in the world and it came with the Xpanel so we can create it with our own taste. X2 is the first WinMo phone with 8 MP Camera, X3 is the first Android phone with 4" display and 8 MP Camera. Again, its new experience for all of us. Xperia series is only for the adventurer who likes new things, new experiences, that anyone never felt before.

About the "Pureness", sure it's a technology demonstration. But I don't see why they have been calling it "a work of art"!!

According to a report by a German research company, GfK, Samsung has 25% market share in Western Europe, next to nokia with 35%. Samsung have 30% of the market share in Russia, Italy and the Netherlands. F480 managed to “top the list of the most popular mobile phones” in countries like the UK, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and Russia for quite some time. In US market, Samsung, LG and Pantech are expected to account for as much as 50 percent of the handset shipments. LG toppled Motorola in US market long back. And I'm not even talking about Asian countries.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-09-06 10:31 from PAcT - click to readu are wrong, SE has 25% market share in European market, 10% in asia and 20% market share in Japan, NAM is the one where SE still has to capture the market, only craps like sammy and LG rule in NAM where ppl are tech savy they are just application oriented.

Intresting but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE !!!

Maybe I say this becouse I don't have the money to buy it, but still.... i would go for Nokia 8800 or Motorola Aura instead of this .... When i've saw it i taught it would be 50 $ max with contract ... at 1000 $ i can buy an laptop and another preety expensive phone ... So -> This phone = BIG Failure

Ok, let's say that the technology is very groundbreaking, but that is no excuse for the absolute UGLYNESS of the phone. As a Sony Ericsson owner i must say i am very dissapointed.

its just horrible. Even with all the features, its SIMPLY NOT ATTRACTIVE.

and SE Employees. Stop talking about how great the phone is and what a wonderful portfolio you got, SE is sinking ... JUst look at the stock market.

Remember the RAZR V3? Its features were already considered meagre at that time and it went for S$1088 with the most expensive contract in my country! It was definitely just because of its slimness and metal housing, but it's still really popular. With the Pureness phone, I wouldn't be surprised if the pricing is true
