AnonD-393011, 07 May 2015That is crap.I have m9 and ithas never overheated.when a unit overheats it shuts down .I think... morethey're not saying it overheats, it got hot running a benchmark test before release. HTC probably solved the problem. I wouldn't worry
I've been using the HTC One M9 for a couple months now and I've never noticed the phone overheating. I used to have an iPhone 5S and when I was using too many apps at once (especially FB chat or Skype), the phone did heat up beyond an acceptable level so I had to take it out of its case and put it in front of a fan! Anyways, back to the One M9, HTC has since updated the software and reduced this overheating issue. Tweakers retested the heat signals after the update and saw a significant decrease with thermo pictures to prove it (http://www.androidauthority.com/htc-one-m9-overheating-594799/). Some users have said it affects the performance but I've been genuinely happy with the results, my M9 still runs smooth.
Anonymouse, 17 Mar 2015M7 = OIS was good. Battery life was worst in class, worse than G2, S4 etc. Go check the forums... moreIt's a popular misconception but aluminum is actually the better thermal conductor. The reason aluminum isn't used over copper is because the expansion displaces components and strains cable connections. If aluminum is used, they usually have to use a fancy alloy to compensate for expansion. Overall, aluminumn is a better electrical and thermal conductor, just not an ideal metal in all situations.
That is crap.I have m9 and ithas never overheated.when a unit overheats it shuts down .I think these people are making up lies.
Maby being paid to do so even. HTC is a great phone and so is Samsung why sling lies around about other brands reminds me of the republicans and democrats!
I am very disappointed with HTC M9,I bought the set two days back from Jitex spring and its getting overheat even for a 5 minute conversation.
Mort, 18 Mar 2015Yes, but it has also the biggest heat dissipation surface, so the real winner here is One M8A few square centimeters do not make discernible difference... Nice try though.
AnonD-342102, 17 Mar 2015And the coolest is Samsung Galaxy Note 4Yes, but it has also the biggest heat dissipation surface, so the real winner here is One M8
To the people that are desperately defending htc m9 on the overheating problem by bashing galaxy s6: You guys are ignoring one really important thing. galaxy s6 has QHD screen whereas htc m9 has just FHD and that makes huge difference. That test result is with m9 with FHD screen. Imagine how it would be if it had QHD screen. Without the help of thermal throttling the temperature would be way over 55.6 degrees celsius and to prevent such overheating, excessive thermal throttling would be required.
R.A.F., 17 Mar 2015say what you want. i owned the m7 from the time it first came out and the battery life is pret... moreI get you like HTC. I used the M7 too until I sold it a few weeks ago as I couldn't tolerate the degraded battery of 3-4 hr SOT after 21 months of owning it and the purple photos. But look at the facts and this is coming from someone who has never admired Samsung to begin with -
NO FAST CHARGING
NO WIRELESS CHARGING
20NM OVEHEATING SNAPDRAGON 810
CANT REMOVE THE REAR MANUALLY WITH A SCREW DRIVER
WORSE CAMERA THAN MOST
WORSE BATTERY THAN M8
NOTHING REALLY FRESH ABOUT IT
HTC STILL HAS LITTLE MARKETSHARE
POOR RESALE VALUE
Subjectively, S6 edge looks better than One M9. The M7 and M8 look better too. Get off the bandwagon. HTC was great for 2013 and again for 2014. I see no THREEPEAT this year. THEY LOST. We have to blame Qualcomm because the real innovation comes from within. The cosmetic/superficial stuff, HTC didn't improve much if any.
And the coolest is Samsung Galaxy Note 4
AnonD-376211, 17 Mar 2015The HTC M9 did not go for the 20.7 MP Sony sensor.. it's using a new Toshiba sensor. Also the ... moreBattery life figures for the M9 are already released by tweakers.net, which is a very reliable tech site.
The M9 has a significantly WORSE battery life than the M8.

Also the M8 despite having a 2600 mAh battery still has amazing battery life.. With the bigger battery and the retained 1080p display i believe it will have the best battery life on any smartphone this year. Just my 2 cents.
I think it is funny the way "HTC's online communications chief" is going on about the software not being final. At this point, all HTC can do is add a thermal throttling patch which will drastically affect performance under load, as it does on the LG G3. I would guess the official final software will under perform across the board under load. Huawei and Samsung etc. will be doing well to use their own chipsets until Qualcomm revise the SD810.
Anonymouse, 17 Mar 2015M7 = OIS was good. Battery life was worst in class, worse than G2, S4 etc. Go check the forums... moreActually HTC M9 is using a Toshiba camera sensor, rather then the Sony one. Only time will tell whether thats a good thing or a bad thing.
I agree copper is even better, but aluminium is widely used in cheaper heatsink and fan solutions. Fins are usefull, but even a casing will dissipate heat plenty fast. And it's certainly no metal block, this is pretty thin material.
AnonD-376202, 17 Mar 2015let the phone be release and then bring judgement. no body is talking about ugly lag town gal... moreno way man dont blame me
let the phone be release and then bring judgement. no body is talking about ugly lag town galaxy s don't let this type of paid for websites tell you things that are not true. every year they end up saying things like this about htc, yet every reviewer ends up putting it as either phone of the year or second runner up. if i am lying, go on google or youtube and see it for yourself.
YEAH, go ahead and buy you 1.4 ghz, older than my grandma tech for the price of a real phone lik the htc or s6. apple is just a fashion statement and nothing more. try to watch a youtube vid on the s or htc and then with the iphone. and then you'll see the reason i didn't buy famous iphone. so sad
m9 looks like become a candle
Anonymouse, 17 Mar 2015Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't wait to have an over-heating solid alumi... moresay what you want. i owned the m7 from the time it first came out and the battery life is pretty good in it. Second, find me one phone that looks as good as this phone. third, find me one phone as reliable as this htc's latest models. i my opinion, they have become probably the best company on the market, not by selling, but providing a phone that is not only beautiful but as reliable as the m7 and m8. Before you make an opinion, one should at least try the device before looking like a fool on the forums and most htc owners would not change their htc's for no samsung or lack luster iphone 6 whatever they call it.
Really bad news not only for HTC but also for all OEMs which are relying exclusively on Qualcom chips. The OEMs wont dare to admit the overheating flaw of the 810 chip and will do their best to hide it.I bet that there will be big revenue drops cause of this issue.
