Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade now available for HTC Diamond2
As promised from the announcement, the HTC Diamond2 has just received its free Windows Mobile 6.5 (at least the European version). You can download the new software through the official HTC update tool...

From what i can gather on the internet, yes the upgrade is specific to the serial number locaed under the battery & that serial number is specific to their regions of sales. I.e I tried a generic upgrade to my handset which would not work, but eventually found the South african upgrade from the HTC site which was tied to my serial number on my Handset. However there are other forums that have the upgrades available but you will lose your warranty should you experience problems. (try XDA Developers. I hope this can help you make the right decision or waite until HTC includes your country.

Hi, question. I bought my phone in China, but they flashed it with an English version 6.1 OS. Now, I want to upgrade to 6.5, but HTC tech support says that if I use one of the European versions, it will erase my phone and then brick it. Is this bull? Why can't I use the UK version?

how do you stop from losing all your data and stuff from winmo 6.1 when you upgarade to 6.5 any help would be nice cheers.........

i love it that when you have WM on your phone and you upgrade you loose everything, while upgrading android (1.5 to 1.6) it told me to hold on and it was done in 4 minutes, lost no information haha!
