I recently pulled my Nexus out of the draw after a couple years to start using it again. I updated to 5.1.1 and what a nightmare. Made my tablet junk. No matter what app I would open, it would freeze up. I did as you said to turn off all tablet searches in google settings and bingo, fixed. Wish I would of found this post sooner, would of saved me many hours of searching for a fix and reading tons of forums and articles that did not help. Thanks again.
It was disappointing to see that the only way to get non-gmail email was through the gmail icon. It was disappointing to see the previous email icon disabled. How can it be re-enabled?

Cannot find camera on nexus 7 lollipop. Does it not come with camera!!
The Android 5.1 OS is old currently. Here Geek Love guy made a comparison video for Android N, Android M and Android 5.1, it is interesting.
Recently Android 5.1.1 Lolipop was upgraded to my Samsung E 7 handset .surprisingly audio mp3 n mp4 clis were found to be incomparable with it
Can u suggest remedy

Updated my Nexus 7 tweo weeks ago. So slow and frustrating. I want my Nexus 7 back! It worked great, I just kept getting this message to update so I did. I am so upset.
My Nexus 7 is now a paperweight. I made the mistake of "upgrading" to Lollipop a year ago and the trouble began. 5.1.1 made it even worse. I really can't use it anymore, not even to play solitare! Using my Moto 6 Android phone and it fast response time makes me want to throw the Nexus in the trash but I can't get it to work long enough to remove my

The system update screen states battery is too low for update connect adapter, even though battery meter reports fully charged.
After a year of slowness"running" (more like crawling) 5.x on my 2012 Nexus 7 I was ready to give up on my device... I decided to give it a try and rollback to KitKat 4.4.4 and wow... Didn't remember it was so fast!
I would recommend to anyone out there with a Nexus 7 2012 to roll back to 4.4.4 ... Not sure why I waited a year... I guess I had hope.. But now that Marshmallow is not planned for my device... No need to keep 5.1.1 on my system.
My nexus 7 2013, battery indicator is faulty since last upgrade always show as low but actually can be fully charged and use for hours without problem. But now with the new upgrade 5.1.1 available the system don't allow upgrade because saying battery is low, but even I connect with power cable the indicator still always low, so I'm stuck cannot proceed with the system upgrade at all message just repeat and repeat. Anyone know how to bypass that message?

And its lot btr ... morethanks ron, but I understand from your words that you are not completely satisfied. Maybe I update my device one of these days. In cause of the complete failure that were in my opinion 5.0.2 and 5.1.0 in the asus nexus 7 2012, I am now, not a developer or a programer, but at least a "rooter", because I "root" my device three times always back to 4.4.4. and even it's not to difficult to do it, it's hard to loose everything inside the device. Thanks again.

Google setting> search and now> tablet search>uncheck all.
Also I had an issue with initialization of wifi connection. The tablet was unusable almost for 3 min. I just made my modem channel from auto to 1. And now its fine.
Uninstall & install facebook. Also in photos, just signed out from google login.
Things are now close to kitkat again.
After updating to 5.1.1 my Nexus 5 is slow as a duck. Excruciatingly slow google search, PlayStore, other functions. Hard to believe that an update can ruin my whole phone experience. Anyone know how to fix this slow as molasses behavior?
Just update 2012 Nexus 7 to 5.1.1 and it seems much better. Still a few slow screens, but I had pretty much given up on the device and now it seems usable again. I understand there was a bug fix in 5.1.1 to a memory leak issue, which could be the reason for the improvement. We'll see how long it lasts...
