is not about being mad, is about not being able to use the newer applications that are comming out. no one would mind keeping the same operating system if all the applications that google is offering will work on every single OS released.
Google Navigation !!! come on. people are mad about not being able to use this application on the new HTC hero, when the the phone havent been that long on the market. i wont get into comparing the iphone with adroid because i think is pretty dumb bringing that discussion since they both have nothing to do with eachother but iphone is a good example on how their updates work. it would be nice for all the devices to support the new OS at the same time as soon as it comes out. the sad part is that on android this is quite impossible since the specs on every android phone change.

Re my previous post, does anyone know if the upgrade will enable DivX playback and poor MP4 & FLV playback?
I'm looking for my next phone to have Android or maybe Maemo as it's O/S, but would prefer to get a handset that already has been roadtested and any bugs removed. I did try out the Hero a few weeks ago and was impressed with it's interface, but I want substance as well as surface when shelling out for a high-end smartphone, so want as many features as possible - ie decent web browers, multimedia playback, a-gps, etc

HTC Devices are not bragging about the camera functions, HTC is one of the best phone makes around, get one play with it and you will see why they are so good, and what's wrong with changing the ROM quite often? its fun to see what the phone can do, Yeah the N900 great no mms and i bet you took the mick when the iphone got released lol.
HTC Rock what ever device whether it be WM or Android i have 1 of each and my friends are amazed at what they can do compared to there, Nokia's, Samsungs, & Moto's or S/E's.

I know that this is not the right place to document it down but since it is related to Android 2.0 you might be interested to know a change made on Sony Ericsson's what's nnext page that lead to youtube and X10 looks pretty neat piece of work in that video.

Sweeett...! :)
I'm also busy at the moment.. introducing to all my friend how good my Hero is.. and they are too mostly astoniched by it's openness and 'blame' me for caught them to Android google, and they can't go back from it.. :P
Surely there's gonna be a lot of people will put their eyes on HTC Hero and other android's devices from now on.. (there's a lot of people doesn't even have a clue who HTC is, particularly in my country).
A happy Hero user and I'm not the only one..! :D

Does the update address any of the Hero's shortcomings that were covered in GSM Arena's review; ie the poor MP4 & FLV playback, lack of DivX/XviD support, bluetooth file transfer, etc?
If so, I might be tempted to get one despite the lack of camera flash, TV-out, voice dialing and fact that it only takes a 8gb MicroSD card (?!?)...
(Erm, on 2nd thoughts maybe I'll just wait for the N900, lol)
