symbian was great when winmo looked like win95 and Android or Mac OSX mobile weren't around
back than the only real competition was feature phones from SE, winmo phones are ungly bulky and pretty much only for businss people
things have changed, but nokia's still refusing to wake up.
Its amazing, for how long have we been waiting for the next Ultra Amazing Nokia... the N97? its a great phone but nothing amazing
doesn't even have a freakin GSX engine

An example of just how bad the Ovi store is.
I just got off the phone to Nokia Care as I was looking for Nokia sports tracker for the N97 and couldn't find it on Ovi.
The Nokia Care rep, left me on hold while she went to find out what to do.
In the end she came back with a link to Symbianworld.org
Pathetic.

It was a case of the inevitable.I own a N96 as I wanted an all singing all dancing phone, There was some quality games Like Metal Gear Mobile, Dirk Dagger, Asphlat HD Series, Brothers in Arms.
But over the years N-Gage or Nokia was luke warm in there importance of N-Gage as a mobile games device so there was a lot of DS conversion like Assasins Creed HD then Java ports etc. Also, The main downfall was the Marketing and advertising, not a lot of people knew about N-Gage on Nseries devices. I think it a good thing bring N-Gage to Ovi store although i think the emergance og I-phone and the apps had an influence on Nokia bring out OVI.
As for PSP, well that's it, its a portable games console, although Apple are not too far behind on the game front, with quality games of different genres from Casual gaming to Driving, RPG, Adventure, Puzzle etc. Plus all the game developers like Gameloft, EA, Glu, Fishlabs etc moved from N-Gage to Iphone.
Apart from Apple Does HTC's or Android phone have quality games of different genres not just casual or puzzle games, if so let me know as my upgrade is not due till June so it gives me time window shop and get the best all singing all dancing phone.

that's sad but you can't blame them, n-gage never got what it deserved, and publishers never considered n-gage as a solid market, most of the games where just clones of the java versions even the big titles, keeping it going at that rate was just pointless, either fix it or delete it.
the worst part though is the ovi store, i can't understand why nokia switched all it's work to ovi, the store, the maps and even the pc suite, the whole ovi thing is just annoying, and everything by ovi is worse than the original.

> In reply to WTFone @ 2009-11-01 20:08 from Ac3H - click to readYou forgot to mention that the iPhone has over 21,000 games available, the games are all backed up on a computer and can be shared between iPhones and iPhone touches who sync to the same iTunes account and that almost all of the major game publishers have titles available.
Besides there are millions downloaded every day.
Meanwhile N-Gage is dead.
ovi is one of the gayest sounding names I've heard.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-01 13:50 from 4BbB - click to readur saying the iphone is THE all in one device? LOL
-gaming: yeah its got lots of them but the experience is not as good without tactile controls. some games just dont work as well wen there r no buttons. most of the good games r paid apps. also a psp does most of the things in ur list.
-internet: it sux at web browsing. no flash support means no online games from sites, no video from several online sites, basically no interactive website.
-gps: its not the only phone with gps, and it was not the first
-apps: nothing new here either. other companies had several apps yrs before apple. most of the apps r useless and the few that r not completely useless, u hv to pay for.
-mp3 player: it has aweful music quality. the speakers suck, very little amount of sound = nvr loud enuf, and no user adjustable EQ.
-many more: uh like wat? it cant take decent pictures or video (especially in dark conditions), battery life is awful and battery cant be user replaced, phone that probably drops the most amount of calls in america, limited msging, no qwerty keyboard for msging, no multitasking, no document editing (or if there is u hv to pay a lot for an app with very limited editing), no video calling, no customizing to the degree u get on other phones/devices, no external memory, no widgets (which several phones now hv)...

3.5' "widescreen" it can't even play 16:9 which is wide screen ratio
It's music quality sucks
Horrible battery
No full support browser
With apple lying how safari mobile displays the web as it's seen on the desktop version
And it lacks flash so it already looses
The speakers need amps just to hear actual sound since the speakers suck
3mp camera with no LED flash
So called HQ pics which look like crap
Looks like a slab of cement works better then the iphone

Nokia is hurting so bad that it's forcing them to reinvent their wheel. First they're kind of ditching symbian, and now ngage. No wonder nokia fans hate the iphone so much, lol.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-01 13:50 from 4BbB - click to readyea but in the process you get striped of your dignity and ripped off.
alot to give up
just get a decent cell and psp
these days it affordable.
and i'm not talking about the contract crap, in my country we don have contracts, all you do is get the sim from the operator and you buy the cell from the mobile market
which is the reason iphone never came to saudi arabia, not the original and not even 3g cause iSteve could't rip the operators off to subsidize their phone
