Huh, I guess needlessly beefing up a processor without a proper cooling solution is detrimental to an SoC. Who woulda thunk.

it's all because of samsung
Anonymous, 15 Jun 2015You're talking trash like always.
The Exynos SoCs have always been the most customized SoC ... moreThis is just stupid. Everyone has their own WiFi module/ISP etc. And what's RAM NAND NFC got anything to do with SoC? They are all off-the-shelf products. Exynos is hands down the LEAST customized SoC.
All there is in SoC: CPU/GPU/ISP/Modem/DSP/GPS/WiFi/BT, Qualcomm design ALL of them: Krait, Adreno, DualISP, MSM baseband, Hexagon DSP, iZAT GPS, Qualcomm/Atheros WiFi/BT. ALL internally designed.
Exynos got NOTHING on Snapdragon in terms of customization. It doesn't even have a built-in baseband/DSP, and it uses NONE customized CPU/GPU.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2015So many opinions , but truth is :
Every chipset has an ARM license , doesn`t matter number ... moreSnapDragon is more used because of lower cost from embedding modem onto CPU cores.
Samsung chooses to separate the CPU cores from the modem, which raises costs but ensures that the CPU cores perform better and more consistently.
Exynos 5433 is superior to the SD 810 in performance despite having the same ARM core layout.

do you know why snapdragon 810 soc is overheating? well, i'll tell you.. because qualcomm uses more fire breathing dragons inside their chips.
So many opinions , but truth is :
Every chipset has an ARM license , doesn`t matter number of cores , support will be the difference in future . The main difference is customization ;-) . Who is falling behind whom ... only time will show . Even with "overheating" problems there are too many devices with SD 810 SoC , why ? :) For Sammy fans , ok Exynos is better , just remember the difference in nanometers which is not so little as big.LITTLE , so everything is market or advertising trick , i really doubt there are burned hands from devices with 810 SoC`s
So many opinions , but truth is :

There is no flagships this year that worth getting except for Galaxy S6 and Note5. Better wait for sd820 in 2016.
Perhaps it's not such a hot proposition after all!
Samsung Exynos is the King now.
What really scard me is that Qualcomm
even dare to give official statement and
excuses for the heat by saying the phones
are only pre-sale .
well i got a samsung gs4 & an htc one m7, both use the 600 chips & i can get them to run quite hot.
I used to have an htc one x running on the nvidia tegra chip & i had that running quite hot too.
Point being no one caused a stir then so why the big fuss now, considering the exynos chip in the galaxy s6 don't run that much cooler.
Try looking round on youtube if you dont't believe me.
AnonD-364786, 15 Jun 2015Exynos is least customized of all the SoCs and its raw power is of not optimized.
Also i dont... more"it's raw power is not optimized"
More horseshit.
The Exynos 5433 uses the same ARM core layouts as the SD 810 on the same 20nm node size and the 5433 doesn't have any of the overheating and throttling issues of the 810.
Qualcomm had a market advantage thanks to embedding a modem in the CPU cores to cut costs, but when it comes to general optimization, the Exynos has always been superior to SnapDragon even without custom cores.

The Exynos SoCs have always been the most customized SoC in the market.
The reason why other companies don't use Exynos is due to its high price due to its highly customized design.
The 7420 has Samsung's own modem, NFC controller, memory, image processor, wi-fi module, RAM and NAND Flash, PMIC, RF Transceiver, Envelope Tracking IC and more. Don't forget Samsung also fabs their own SoCs, so the 14nm FinFET design is also their own custom design.
The Qualcomm SnapDragon line (Aside from the recent 810) only have customized CPU, GPU and modems. Everything else is off-the-shelf.
The Apple SoCs have custom CPU cores and that's it. Everything else is off-the-shelf.
Arcane, 15 Jun 2015So what will happen if Samsung won't licence it's Exynos to other companies and Qualcomm can't... moreSony already use Mediatek chips in some of thier phones, for example, http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_c4-7227.php
