Nokia however have something to say on the matter as well. At a Maemo event in London, on November 18 2009, the Maemo marketing team shared with some...

AFAIK (and I did some dev stuff for Nokia); Symbian is DYING and its children are STILLBORN. They will use that ugly, unmaintainable stuff for their low-end handsets to come, but not for long. A highly optimized Maemo is in the works to completely replace it. Better late, than never.

actually is not that nokia should ditched symbian but symbian should change their O.S.... Seriously, it's damn boring, even with s60v5, it feels like the old symbian, and we get enough of it. Phone is developing fast thats why the O.S also need to catch up with the phone. In the past 3 years mobile phone keep advancing but symbian stays the same, imagine if at 2012 symbian keep stay the same.. during that time, maybe it only be used in some low end cheap phone

I demand a Part II.

Mummy!
Symbian my son(tears).
Is it true that I must leave mummy?I don't wanna leave(sad face).
I think that you have grown enough to raise your own family my dear(wiping tears).
Please mum, I don't wanna go! I'm scared(looking down on floor with eyes shivering).
Don't be scared my dear child, you have your friends Sony and Ericsson, and your lovely girlfriend Samsung(smiling with tears).
But why mum?! Don't you love me?! Didn't you say I am your only son? And who is that Maemo? Is this cause of him?(tears in his eyes).
Don't expect answers my dear, you must find them by your own, mummy is having hard times, I am not young as I used to be(no tears, worried face).
Will you die?
Nobody knows, I hope I won't soon, but we must all die one day my dear, don't cry, you are man, grown enough.
Please let me stay mummy!
But...
But what? Maemo again?!
No...
Please, I beg you.
Ok, stay, just another 2 years.

(They hug and smile)

End of part I

How touchy. :D

Poor Nokia, what immature symbian is. I doubt that symbian will ever grow up to expectations. And you? XD

Will symbian open source be customizable? Like being able to edit all the underlying system settings etc? As compared to windows mobile and android? Like being able to upgrade to it for instance when it comes out?

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-21 00:20 from PS69 - click to readYou're wrong about everything, I have the Nokia E81, E71 and N97;
SE has made one s60 phone and it wasn't really liked, Samsung phones take so long to get firmware updates that they are useless if some error happens.
And you don't seem to have read the article Nokia is going to use BOTH Symbian and Maemo in its phones.
If nokia diches Symbian, Symbian dies and that's how it is.
