Also, if you are a potential iphone user and you know getting the "official" ones in China would NOT have wifi (as gov. doesn't officially allow?) while one can easily get one with "full features" in HK, for probably a bit less with the same quality and warranty, what would you do?
Ever since iphone released, I already helped a friend of mine in China to buy 2 units from HK.
it's important to have a place where you can see and touch a phone before purchase. but if they work through brick and mortar retailers that would be ok, since there were no bargains at the flagship stores anyway.
Goodbye Nokia. Nice to met you.
So, will they release N900 in countries where they have fans?
To think that it was made available in Kool Aid country. Where they are hated.
Anonymous, 10 Dec 2009Apple has Computers, Nokia is a solely phone company and it doesn't make Computers except netb... moreThat is untrue the iPhone has sold remarkably well worldwide, however this isn't about the iPhone. You did hit the nail on the head, the reason Apple can justify these nice large retail stores is they are a complete electronics company, whereas Nokia only offer phones. Over here in Australia the Nokia retail stores are normal stores found in shopping centres, no bigger than the Mobile phone carrier stores. They also sell other brands of phones and accessories, so they are more just like a phone store called Nokia! They also do contracts for the carriers etc...

Anonymous, 10 Dec 2009Apple has Computers, Nokia is a solely phone company and it doesn't make Computers except netb... moreApple has now sold over over 100,000 official iPhones in China, not such a failure.
Then there are all the grey market iPhones shipped in from Hong Kong.
I wonder when Apple will open a store in Finland?

Mega-fixed.
Yes, because Apple didn't cause hype when releasing the 3GS when the only "new" features were a Compass, Voice Record, a slightly better camera with video recording and a better processor...
Something that phones one or two years older had already, did you know that? Except for the useless Compass app, of course.
Who's mentioning the iPhone, anyway? We don't care about it, just GTFO if you have nothing to say but BS about your iToy.
For Arturo: Is there a Nokia flagship store in Mexico? O.o
Maybe it's in the DF, because I have never seen one before. :P
Anonymous, 10 Dec 2009I guess that's what happens when you have Top of the Line phones with but charge WAAYYYYY too ... moreThe prices for some flagship phones from nokia are understandable but they pulled off some stupid moves like the n97mini being almost the same price as n97 but nokiaUSA reduced the pricing for alot of models like the n85,5800,n96,n97,e71 and some other models which is nice for me since i'm from canada and i only buy unlocked nokia phones :3
Plus look what your getting why some of nokia's prices are so high
Every model now has a gps
Plus wicked battery life,loud speakers,best RF's in the world,vibrant display great,camera quality,90% open source
449.99USD for n900 isn't bad at all
Dell.com has it :)
HD rengr, 10 Dec 2009Really Nokia is out of touch, wake up and get your act together you silly Europies who need to... moreI think that is your problem, and is not our nokia or European problem about this thing's you name there.
Nokia is closing this places because this companies like Amazon and best bay, are profiting to much on the name of nokia company throe making difficulties by selling locked and with contract, which is considered as abuse and degradation of their product locking wi-fi or simmcard or putting their own avertisings.
Really Nokia is out of touch, wake up and get your act together you silly Europies who need to learn how to adapt to US style and fvck monopoly cell networks in US but Nok should build phones that are truly compatible with 3G US networks and with good price. Throw in a AMOLED 3.7" screen and a thin form factor then wm6.5 or Android 2 os with DivX, free US sat nav, voice command, full web brower flash support, 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB charge, TV out, external memory with 16G internal would make me a buyer ;) and stop fooling around nokie, u have enough junk phones to build a house (only a few "good" one but still buggy and clunky UI/OS)

Apple doesn't sell well outside the US. take a look at the iphone launch in China it was a big failure
I guess that's what happens when you have Top of the Line phones with but charge WAAYYYYY too much for them. This sucks for us in the US because that is ALL of the Flagship stores here. Maybe they'll drop their prices in the US because of this also *And then I woke up*.
Please stop trying to make everything about Nokia an iPhone war. iPhone has been defeated by the Droid (A Much better phone all around). The Droid came and showed the world (Not just tech heads) just a few things that the iDon't doesn't do. I understand that some of you are avid iPhone lovers but sorry to say, the iPhone is yesterdays news.
Meanwhile Apple is opening 40-50 new stores across the world next year, the opening in Paris went quite well last month.
Nokia is a dinosaur finding it hard to keep up with the new players, the only thing that keeps it going is the hype of it's fans.
The Nokia stores in Chicago and New York were pretty pointless anyway. Nokia would be much better off finding a partnership through Best Buy or something to carry the devices in all of their stores across the country. It would give them far better exposure than two tiny shops, and would really get there products into a lot more American hands.
i just can't believe that one guy lee is sitting all day jrking and refreshes gsmarena's page to be the first to say 1st. he actually is 1st countless times before. try to search if you don't believe me
never been to a flagship store, whats so special about them apart from obviously having most of the models and showcasing the latest ones
I'm surprised the one in South Africa isn't closing. Didn't think it was that popular.
I believe nokia should have genuine retailers and manufacturers, No more made in china ,… because the phones made in CN are really bad quality, and I’m from sri lanka for us to get a phone made in finn takes a min of 5 months…
Something good about nokis is they use the best technology…. Always keep it real…
