On the other hand, the fact that the OS is (not) made for the specific device SHOULD matter. Crapple has no excuse. The whole "optimization" myth is just that. Hollow marketing talk.
Dont judge Apple by ram. Apple devices doesnt have any lag even with 1 GB Ram. Its only Android which even lag with 4Gb Ram. I have used both. Apple is fa ahead from Android.

wooooow 2gb ram how a mobile have 2gb ram thats wonderful. wait a min one plus two has 4gb ram
It s all about the software. If the software doesn't need more ram why do you want more ram? It'stupid . Stop thinking more is better. Maybe you don't need more , maybe what you have is all you need.

It not the megapixals its the quality lens and software and since Apple OS doesn't get bogged down and 'laggy' like androids, you know there is years of useage out of our apple device
Haven't ever seen a reason for iPhone/IOS to need a quad core CPU considering their dual core architecture smashes the competition most of the time anyway - but 2GB of RAM is most welcome. Apple's CPU's have always been the most advanced by a long shot.

How many time do we have to explain to you that 1GB can't be enough not because the phone is sluggish, but because apps have to be reopened? But you're probably another one of those people who barely even need a smartphone, just texting and probably using facebook (And yes, for such users 1GB really is more than enough).
I agree, it doesn't matter how much RAM is put in. Put 10G of RAM in phone and if it is not optimized, you still feel laggy and shitty..
Apple wins here, they optimize the memory management so much they just need 1G here. The other Gig is just to get some good marketing.

Plus, 1GB RAM really was totally not enough, only blind zombies "thought" otherwise. It may have been fast, but that doesn't mean ram wasn't needed - more ram is about not having to restart the apps, not about speed.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2015Maybe a little more research next time http://au.pcmag.com/apps/3798/news/ios-apps-crash-mo... moreAgree with the research. Using a pure Android (nexus devices) will possibly crash less than ios (albeit a small percentage advantage). But once you start having craps loaded in them by htc Samsung lg, then android not only crashes more, but it's sluggish. But one thing everyone seems to agree is that android definitely slows with time, as opposed to ios.

T... moreyou must never used any iphones before? even though spec-wise, iphones seem like in a disadvantage, in real world usage, it destroys the competition all the time. Apple, just like any luxurious companies, sell the total package, not just spec. Why would girls buy small LV handbags for like 1000$ when you can buy an extra large guess handbag for 200$?

There seems to be a war around here. Why are we forcing each other to dislike something? Don't we have freedom of choice? Don't we have a right to like whatever we like?
And lastly why are we fighting each other over a freaking phone? IT'S JUST A PHONE, for goodness' sake.
