Anonymous, 17 Sep 2015Targeted ads are not really targeting anything if they cannot be seen by the target, are they?Adblockers block all ad's, not just targeted ad's and since they became avilable I've not seen an ad, and there is next to no latency even on LTE, with wifi it's just lightning fast.
Anonymous, 17 Sep 2015Targeted ads are not really targeting anything if they cannot be seen by the target, are they? No. But some people use the ad block to stop targeted adverts targeting them. Therefore they use it out of a privacy concern.
Saying "You Use Adblock So Can't Pull The Privacy Card" ignores that fairly obvious factor.

DarkStar, 17 Sep 2015Firstly there is some quality loss when using Google Photos as it does re-compress everything ... moreYou're partially right.
Important part - check the article on Android Police, you'll see the quality analysis there. They said it well enough and showed how the tests were done.
16MP seems just fine for me, it's obviously not meant for storing .DNG or other RAW formats. Not to mention you still have 15GB free for storing files if you want to keep in original quality. Let's be honest here, no professional photographer goes around uploading RAW files to Google Photos, Facebook or any other site of this kind.
Lastly, and probably most importantly - really? You care THAT much about them scanning your pictures (like how Facebook, Twitter, and all other sites do)? Think of it this way - no matter what you do, you'll see ads on the internet, so why not see ads that interest you? Oh, Google knows I like the Dead Zebra vinyl figures, so they can show me ads for places that sell them or similar ones, call the cops! Not to mention if you wanted privacy for your photos, you shouldn't be uploading them in the first place.
(for those saying "I use adblock so I never see ads", then you cant pull the privacy concern argument so go away!)

It's good, but they're not perfect and images do show slight signs of degredation. Secondly it's only free for up to 16MP, which isn't good enough with phones featuring 21MP or higher sensors.
The main reason I wouldn't use it though is the reason it's free. Google are scanning all images uploaded to the service and gaining vast amounts of information about you, like running facial recognition on every photo, and being Google you just know they'll use that information to better target ads at you.
It's a good service if you don't care about your privacy, but personally I do.
