Noel, 26 Nov 2015Grrrrrr where's the edit button when u need it...ok Kirin 950 not 930.
Since Huawei will hav... moreAgree...
I think they should give stock android to P series; may be coming P9 and make it as such that it could really compete . Every year they give something to complain
1080P display instead of Qhd
Serious complains in graphics department
This time eventhough they used the latest MALI-T880 but they used 4 cores (MP4) not 8 or 12 cores which would be the case with samsung galaxy s7
I hope they listen to these
Request GSMarena to highlight these
Excellent phone. May lack some extra features to challenge the samsung note line (it all depends on screen quality and some additional things like Pen etc)
So Huawei may have produced their best phone ever, but may be slightly behing the note 5.
Sad this latter did loose removable battery
Anonymous, 26 Nov 2015You say 5.5" but are you talking screen or phone body dimensions? Mainly because the Note rang... moreI mean the 5.5" display size, the body size excluded. Yes iPhones are a disaster when it comes to screen-to-body ratio. I mean why is a 5.5" iPhone 6s Plus larger than a 5.7" Note 5??
Anyway, doesn't matter how big or small the bezels are, a phone with a 5.5" display or more and the additional body is an absolutely no-go for me now. Just got fed up with the unhandy Note 2 which I used before.
I my opinion, the maximum should be 5.1" or 5.2" like S6 or Z5.
swirly, 27 Nov 2015Actually coprocessors have been in some phones already; iPhone 5s/6/6s and Moto X 2013.You can tell there are a lot of cheap Chinese brand lovers here that are jumping the gun and prematurely calling this the best phone with the most unique features when in reality it's not all that great, processor is meh and like you said the coprocessor thing has already been done before. They just want to see the big dogs like Sammy and Apple fail so badly that it's clouding their judgement and sanity smh
mas39, 27 Nov 2015No, I have a small head and small hands but still find it easy to handle the 6.4" Sony Z Ultra... moreYou just contradicted yourself, you say 7" is a tablet but anything that's 5.5-7" is a phablet, which is it? And 6.4" is uber huge which is why you rarely see phones of that size, I bet that thing doesn't fit unless you're wearing 90's style jeans lol I just can't imagine someone answering a call on a 7" pseudo phone. Face it, 5.5" is the new sweet spot and it isn't gonna get any higher, it's not like back in the day when everyone was okay with 3.5, 4, or 5.2" phones. Heck there are plenty of people who gripe about 5.5" and a lot of them are Apple users mixed in with Android owners that prefer more compact size devices that are very easy to operate one handedly.
Anonymous, 27 Nov 2015Tough the screen might be bigger, the front panel is not as it covers the front. The body of t... moreNo I own a 5.5" phablet and it fits well in the pocket and in the hand, larger screen area makes it more prone to cracking regardless of the size of the body itself.

People just want to clamor what they want without really understanding what other people wants.
If it's not for you or doesn't fit your lifestyle, don't bother buying it!
toto15, 27 Nov 2015Have mate 6?Ooops.... sorry. the comparison should be with Ascend Mate 7
To answer your question, yes Mate 6 or simply called Ascend Mate was the first one
(There's also an i5 coprocessor that
"supports speech recognition, low-
power consumption MP3, all the
functions of a sensor hub, fused
location provider (FLP) navigation, and
reduces location-based power consumption," the company said in a
press release.)This tech will be copy by other company next year....
vlad, 26 Nov 2015it will demolish the iphone 6s plus in gaming becouse it will acheive higher framerates on FHD... moreiPhone 6S has currently the most powerful GPU , whereas MaliT880-MP4(4 cores) is weaker than Mali T-760(MP8). So no , this phone is not demolishing any current flagship.
Perhaps it can demolish iPhone 5S ?
AnDas, 27 Nov 2015That may be true but I'm more worried about cracking the screen as large as this, not to menti... moreTough the screen might be bigger, the front panel is not as it covers the front. The body of the phones are the same size, and therefor the risk of cracking is the same.
The same goes for problems with tight clothing, as the body is the same.
So your comment against it's size, is general against the phablet size, and not specifically the Mate 8.
AnDas, 27 Nov 2015That may be true but I'm more worried about cracking the screen as large as this, not to menti... moreAs the body is the same side, and front pannels are or glass, the screen size is irrelevant. And the problem with tight clothing is the same as the others.
Huawei over delivered in the screen body ratio, as they have fittet a larger screen in the same size body.
Anonymous, 27 Nov 2015hope intl. version is with SD820I hope it comes out with the Exynos 8890 or Tegra X1 :D
MarcoK, 26 Nov 2015Aaaaaand the gfx bench results are out, kirin 950 is between SD 801 and SD 808, thats a huge s... moreThe Mali T880 MP4 GPU in the Mate 8 was able to get a GFXBench 4.0 score of 17FPS for the Manhattan 8 offscreen test and 38FPS for the Tyrannosaurus offscreen test both of which are actually lower than the Apple A9, Samsung Exynos 7420, and the Snapdragon 810. But in 3DMark, the Mate 8 was able to score 18,051 in the Ice Storm Unlimited test besting the iPhone 6 and almost matching the iPhone 6S.
If we analyze the results above, The Mate 8 has failed to surpass the current flagships alone for 2 out of 3 benchmarks.
But this doesn't mean it has failed Consumers at GPU Performance and gaming experience alone.
Given its Benchmark Ratings, it is equal to SD808 or Apple's A8 performance.
That's not so bad at all given that the current mobile games are still running smoothly on SD808 or A8 GPU-wise.
Perhaps it is bad given that we are paying for something expensive and at the price level of Samsung or Apple's flagships but the GPU did not exceed or not at par with either brands.
I will still buy it.
Remember that the Mate 6, despite the GPU's performance is lower than the current flagships of the other brands at that time, it was still one of the best phones of its year.
Now that the Mate 8's KHiS 950 has stepped up its ante, I believe the user experience will be greater than that of the Mate 6.
Sure, it's not the best GPU out there but I think it will still get the work done and be able to run videos and 3D gaming smoothly.
The question now is how optimized is its software and UI. Will it be bloated like Samsung's TouchWiz or Meizu's or Xiaomi's MiUI? We'll see soon once it's out and hands on review is available.
avno7xp, 26 Nov 2015You're short but 6.4" is ok for you. Do you have a big head , mammoth hands but small bod... moreNo, I have a small head and small hands but still find it easy to handle the 6.4" Sony Z Ultra, that's why I find it so strange when people say 5.5" is the absolute limit for a phone, just cannot understand it.
By the way 7" is a tablet, anything from 5.5" upto 7" is a phablet.
