Same problem here ... followed the above instructions to the letter,

The above suggested steps did not work for me. Using Windows 7 x64. Tried changing WM70Full.bin to WM70C1.en-US.bin and placing it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v7.0\Emulation\Images (renaming the file already in there) - got a message "Windows Phone emulator is doing a complete OS boot" ... now just waiting

I did all of things that you write. But there is an error.
Error:
Cannot open file
'SDKs\WindowsPhone\v7.0\Emulation\Imagies\WM70Full.bin
What can I do ?

Okay instead of all the run around that the instructions give you just click on the bin file once you've extracted and it will ask you to select a program to open with.. just navigate to the XDE.exe file and click that then viola thats it!

what's more - windows phone appears to be phone system, not the smartphone...

The article comment 'more than perfect' about the performance shouldnt be made when emulating o mobile's os on a pc. The UI looks nice though.

Looks prety promissing. Works really really slow on a core2duo with 4 gigs of ram.. i don't know what's the deal with the emulator, but I really look forward to see it in action on a real handset. Nice work this time MS! Untill then, i'll feast my eyes/hands with "Rachael" ;)
