TK55, 26 Mar 2010I will Follow your SE XPERIA 10
SE will Support U sure There's lots of people commenting here simply because they are disappointed with SE. That doesn't make them trolls. I used to be an SE fan. Bought two SE phones with contract and subsidies (that's tough here in Canada). But they started going downhill after the K800 imho. I got a Nokia 5800 last year. And this year, I just ordered a Nexus One.
I've kept an eye on SE ever since my first two fully paid-up handsets being SE. But I am not impressed today. They make great phones but the value is terrible. It's way overpriced for what you get. If they want USD 770 for a phone, the phone better be absolutely up-to-date on release in both hardware and software. Android 1.6 on release? Are you kidding me? And then who knows how long we have to wait for Eclair.
If Eclair comes to this phone in June (2 months from now), just imagine all the phones that will be out by then that can compete with this phone. Heck, I'd say there are several phones that are already competitive with this phone (Nexus One).
There are really only two reasons to get this phone:
1) Camera - If you want 8MP on an Android platform then this is great for you.
2) Timescape/Mediascape - If you like the SE UI skin, then the phone is great.
To me that's a terrible value proposition. Personally, I wasn't going to spend an extra $241 (even though I have the money) to get 3MP more, and I didn't really like the UI enough to give up the extra RAM, the brilliant screen (65k colours, seriously?) and the noise cancellation feature on the N1. Most importantly I wasn't going to wait months for an OS upgrade. It's a big jump from 1.6 to 2.1 so not having an updated OS is a huge deal.
The only thing that the X10 really has going for it (when compared to the Google/HTC N1), in my opinion, is that carriers can actually sell the phone themselves. That means there are floor models you can try and subsidized prices which make the phone cheaper. But that also comes with carrier branding, carrier crapware, locked phones and nice long contracts.
The phone would have been great offering if it was going for $200 less.

Yeah, but if you want to get an X10 to use on Wind or Mobilicity you are paying the full price. That's USD 770 + GST/PST or HST. That'll end up just shy of CA$900.
The iPhone is $199 with a 3 year contract because Apple is pretty strict about the pricing being the same across all carriers. I think it's safe to bet that SE does not have as much sway and with Rogers being the exclusive carrier, it'll also get to charge prices that come with that exclusivity. $300 with a 3 year contract, at least is my bet. Though I would not be surprised to see $399.
The bigger issue though for any Canadian cellphone fans, is why would you get a subsidized handset from the Big 3 and stay locked in for 3 years with competition picking up? Is the X10 really so good that you'd lock yourself in with Rogers for 3 years?
The X10 is a good phone but it does not have a FM radio. This fact alone will make this phone a no buy. If you look at the rest of the specs the phone is not too bad, except for the fact that it has Android 1.6 (Totally unacceptable for a new Android device on the market.)
On the positive side the phone does not have the ridiculous SE fast port and use a normal sd card (Instead of m2 which is 3x more expensive than micro sd).
All in all not a bad effort from SE, but the ridiculous price will obviously reduce the sales figures to only a few 100 thousand units to the few hardcore SE fans(usually identifiable by the pocket protectors they wear) that is still out there.
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2010this people only make blah blah blah about this phone but they eagerly want to have one.umm dont get confused, you prob want one but im pretty sure when they *blah blah*.. im guessing hating, the phone they still hate it and dont want to buy one.
If the company could resist the temptation to launch such great devices at such a high price its sales would increase significantly.
this people only make blah blah blah about this phone but they eagerly want to have one.
Its official in INDIA too. Bollywood Actress, Kareena Kapoor with the official release.
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2010I'd definitly buy the xperia x10 if there are hackers out there willing to port the android 2.... moreThe xda developers already started the root to put up the 2.1 OS before SE does. Check their site.
I'd definitly buy the xperia x10 if there are hackers out there willing to port the android 2.1 rom into the phone......and the desire rom also and release it to the public within the xda forums. HTC's sense UI kind of grew on me after using it on my nexus. Sony Ericsson's custom ui on the x10 is nice but I dont think it'll grow on me because I feel it'll be a little hectic and stressful just to get to point A to point B. Hope this phone is a success after so many FAILED mobile devices SE released recently these past 2 years. They need to get back in their prime again like they did when they had their P series phones back in 03-05
X10 is a great phone if SE release last year. Now seems to late for them, SE never get learn.
This year definately won't save SE business as SE never learn the lesson.
SE 2010, 26 Mar 2010The fact is that, this is one of the best devices ever in the mobile industry! And no matter h... moreI totally agree with you since this phone is going to be upgraded I don't understand what all these people are crying about. It's just so naive. I think people should look in the future because this is what really matters so since it will be upgraded I have no problem getting it at all.
So let me get this strait.. People say rather wait for the samsung wave or Galaxy S or HTC which is way cheaper.i agree
But Sony people say X10 is out now we dont wanna wait!? But then you contradict yourselves saying, just wait for a 2.1 update and wait for a price drop. By that time the other phones are already out which is better and CHEAPER.
With that X10 price i want my phone to last atleast 2 years. im not gona go buy another phone, next year. What a waste of money would that be! But im not gona be happy with a non hd video camera and TFT Screen with 1 gb internal memory and 16gb ext memory for the next two years.
Hence im not gona buy it. This phone last year would have rocked! But with windows 7 series phones and super amoled screens coming out which is freaking amazing i just cant see me buying this...
As for games..Check this out. http://androidandme.com/2010/0...-snapdragon/
The Snapdragon only does 22 million triangles per second.
Samsung Galaxy S: with PowerVR SGX540 = 90 million triangles/sec.
Better looking games on android. I say if you were a android lover id def would get a galaxy S over X10 ;). as for me im gona buy samsung wave :D.
Reality check, 26 Mar 2010Why don't you school us on how the X10 is outdated?
I have pointed out how OLED really does... moreMan why would use this kind if phone outdoors? expensive phones should not be used outdoors.. its best suited for indoors like in your office, home or inside cars... rugged phones best suited outdoors for outdoors activities and adventures... you could be robed using this kind of phone outdoors..
Yes it will be upgraded to later version, but as of now.. deal with the fact that its still running on an outdated version... wait until its updated then say its not outdated anymore.. (its like counting eggs to a chiken that has not layed yet...)
There is no problem with android 1.6, it runs smooth on this phone but the reality is that you cant just say anything yet until its been already done..
SE 2010, 26 Mar 2010God just look at how much comments did the x10 news get 182 vs galaxy s news 47 LoooL, I guess... moreYes, sony phones are more popular and far better than the samsung's, but do you know why it has so low customer base? Why in every quarter SE faced net losses? I am also a SE fanboy but don't like ur opinions.
SE 2010, 26 Mar 2010The fact is that, this is one of the best devices ever in the mobile industry! And no matter h... moreNo radio, no compass, and you have to install the software yourself if you do not want an outdated phone, it is probably one of the most overprised phones ever, it sucks!
Android 2.1 with 16 m is already out there so why do not SonyEricsson install it on their phone, why do we have to buy a produkt that we have to install the software on ourselves if we do not want an oudated product, it is to expensive since it has no rrelevant software installed? Tests have indicated that the phoneis very slow, you can move the finger more than 1 cm before the page in the browser reacts. SonyEricsson always comes several months behind all the competitors.
SE 2010, 26 Mar 2010The fact is that, this is one of the best devices ever in the mobile industry! And no matter h... moreokokok.. X10 is the best in the world.. The greatest phone of all time. Best of the best. No. 1. Hopefully it will get update very soon for the 2.1.
U heard what he say? X10 is the best! Clap hand please everyone.
The fact is that, this is one of the best devices ever in the mobile industry! And no matter how much we speak and confirm that it will be upgraded to andriod 2.1 with 16m and it will have everything the other handsets have plus the 4 inch screen and the 8 mp camera, some people are so stubborn to admit it! Well deep inside them they know the truth but still they insist in making this beast look bad, so keep talking until you blow your brains! The fact won't change that this beast will eat everything that dares to approach it.
Fact is fact so just live with it the sooner the better! The desire will never have an 8 mp camera or 4 inch screen, but the x10 will get andriod 2.1 along with 16m colors and multi touch, you see the difference? Or your so naive to understand it with your limited brains!
