Dual heatpipes, 24 Feb 2016X is Super Mid, it must be the another successor for mid range. Just wait the actually price c... moreOf course it is their new midrange, some call it a flagship but in reality it is not
else some features from flagship series would remain, like 4k video, 4k screen, etc...
This one X Performance is a mighty one though
Lex79, 24 Feb 2016And how exactly would you know that Tann? And how exactly do you assume otherwise lexie?
Given Sony mobile buissness behavoiur in the last 4-5 years, always releasing their flagship of the year in september, no matter the naming scheme?
It is much more deductivly logical than this news item assumption, from a comment about Sonys series naming scheme change
Is it not lexie?
I hope haters will stop trolling. competition is better for fans and haters both of them.
imparanoic, 24 Feb 2016lets see, if the real successor to z series will be announced in september X is Super Mid, it must be the another successor for mid range. Just wait the actually price country to country.

Mobile section profitability increased from some 50 mill to some 200 mill
Its all there in the report, black on white....
Btw. Why do you lexie reply to me? I thought you made yourself a promise dear?!
A really sad day for the smartphone market. I am almost crying. When Sony announced the Xperia X Performance with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 I suspected that something like that would be happening but I didn't want to believe it. IP certification is gone. All the Sony Xperia Z series needed was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM. I suspect we are seeing Sony quietly exiting the smartphone market, blaming poor sales since the new X series is in no way a replacement for the Z series, no matter how you look at it (IP certification, RAM).

Your reality check is "flawless", I do not doubt it

The z5p is the flagship
U will see the Sony 2016 flagship later this year
OK!!!
Nicole Scott from Mobilegeeks.com, a self confessed Sony fan girl, has also stated this in a recent hands on video of the Xperia X on YouTube. So assuming it is indeed true, I can't really say as I'm surprised at all.
This looks to me to be a first step in Sony trying to reduce its mobile product portfolio, in line with their market expectations going forward. I think further analysis will show the X series to be overall cheaper for Sony to manufacture and produce when compared to the Z series, and this is probably a move to help them turn some kind of profit in the mobile space (something the Z series repeatedly failed to do).
I know the Sony fans will likely be devastated by this news (that's the problem with being a fan of one brand only) but it's been coming for quite a while when you think about it.
Here's hoping the X series is successful for Sony in the way they hope, or the next step for them could be market withdrawal.
AnonD-367917, 24 Feb 2016I always thought X series was top tier audio parts. Like X series Walkmans. They might be try... moreX1050/1060 was flagship audio player during 2009, great player which puts to shame any mobile ( we did a test, 3 mobiles, nwz-1050, nwz-f886, 4 headphones) nwz-1050, nwz-f886 was significant sounded better for the same track ( same file) regardless of headphones
I like the new X series. They follow the rounded sides of the Z3 and they ditched the slippery and messy glass back of the former flagship xperia phones. Plus the unified paint job for the entire body of the phone is very nice.
