Well it makes sense. Sony's very first Xperia was called the "X1" followed by the "X2" and their very first Android Xperia called the "X10".
SONY in Barcelona showed that he can play the game exactly like Barcelona football team
Why do you people care about the names?Z or X or whatever the name is i don't care forget the name and jump in the game
What an utter disaster, what's Sony playing at ? They should have continued with the Z series instead of bringing out this X series. Just can't understand their logic in this. Lucky really that I was intending to use my 6.4" Z Ultra and 8" Z3 Tablet Compact for at least another year. Hopefully next year Sony will have come to their senses and gone back to the Z series, hope so, need phablets and tablets, forget these tiny miniscule phones, they are a complete waste.
Yhien041715, 24 Feb 2016I think wireless charging is not even that necessary. What's important is that it has quick c... moreMagnetic charge port was good on all previous z phones(a slight bothersome is that you can't lock the screen rotation), charge fast and faster than the USB port. Tbh, ever since the z1 with waterproof, dustproof this kind of thing, but lack of wireless charge or a better USB port( the cap is very stupid and it last to Z3+ which is the Z4). And that i think that Sony is just on the wrong path and that's why their mobile business is not doing well. Sony never wanted to be a pioneer in mobile business and all they ever did is catch up. They got great camera but lack of OIS( and that really make a difference). That 2 day battery life that they keep on bragging about, i never have that with my Z3. 10 to 5 or 6 in a day 50% gone( with WiFi). If 4G only, the battery drop even faster.
lexox, 24 Feb 2016Z series had bad reputation? that's the first i've heard of it. It's a well regarded phone. For me as a long time SONY user and a hardcore fan Z series is the best in every aspect....but SONY struggling to reach the casual user and expand its fan base since the Z3 then the Z3+ came out with the overheating rumors also a bad marketing strategy...what i mean is a fresh start is what SONY needs to have a profitable mobile section again.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2016I think it isn't true. Z6 should be released later.Let's hope so.
Sony should announce 1 flagship 5" phone in February and 1 flagship 5.7" phone in August! Similar to what Samsung is doing with the S and Note phones!
Ahhh, you assume....
assume though, this years Sony flagship is coming in september, it just wont be called z6 or any z
They released z3+/z4 by this time last year, and z5 in september, so no this is not their flagship of 2016., they just changed the naming scheme again
and so my assume is better and more logical
Enjoy your assumes...
jwm, 24 Feb 2016Z series means something for SONY's hardcore fans only, for the others it had a bad reputation... moreZ series had bad reputation? that's the first i've heard of it. It's a well regarded phone.
Z series means something for SONY's hardcore fans only, for the others it had a bad reputation and SONY needs to get away from that, also I donÂ’t think X Performance will be SONY's flagship of the year... I mean itÂ’s still February and SONY testing the waters first with these three devices.
pika2000, 24 Feb 2016Makes sense. It's overlapping with the current lineup. I think the M series will also be out, ... moreIf they can already release a limited set of models differing in specifications, when it comes to design Sony can ditch every other family series they produce as their design from one to another is minimally noticeable, besides perhaps the materials, just as Samsung (Yeah, just so my comment would not come out as solely targeting Sony, I'm citing Samsung as an example for its similar habits and as a company known by the habit). A few models each year, they could reduce their carbon footprint in doing so
I would love changing my Z2 for the X or XP. I love the Sony software and design, but usually they overprice their products. Just an observation because seems that all tech blogs come to a sense that what Sony does is always the same and not good. What, for me at least, doesn't seem to be true at all and doesn't bother me that much. It's a matter of taste and if the product fulfill your needs. So, maybe lass hate and more focus on what really matters.
