petras, 02 Mar 2016something between s6 s7 s8 ?? SO it's S7 . Really you are smart, aren't you ?Funny, but sorry that I don't think in 1D, I meant it as - triangle -meaning it got some very similar parts from those generations+ something new that s8 may come with.
Wayyy too expensive! They must think they have the same brand recognition and trust as Samsung. lol The S7 is only $44 more expensive and its got a $99 worth of Gear VR bundled. Who on their right mind would buy this!?
Maan, this is an 80% copy of Samsung's Galaxy S6 edge.
Why dont you think something out of the box... Always after copying something.
Kettzy, 02 Mar 2016The guy talking about High def audio and DAC wouldn't question about drivers that Samsung uses... moreEven the most optimized software (Samsung driver) for a low end hardware (DAC) cannot compete with a driver made by the same company (ESS) for its high quality hardware (ESS DAC). Period.
An analogy will be a racing driver (Samsung's optimized software driver) driving around a circuit much faster compared to a general public (Vivo's poorly optimized software driver) in the same car (same hardware DAC). But the racing driver (Samsung) cannot attain 200 km/hr (ESS DAC) in a 100 km/hr (general DAC used by Samsung) car down the straight. The car (DAC) won't allow it. Same goes for Vivo X5Max where a high-end Texas Instruments OPA1612 op-amp follows an ESS SABRE ES9018-K2M DAC in the audio path. After subjectively comparing both S6 & X5Max for more than a day, the S6 does not even comes close to Vivo is terms of audio quality, timbre & texture. In every other department apart from sound quality S6 beats X5Max fare and square.
A guy talking about high quality audio and claiming a software driver is good enough to overcome quality hardware squarely falls in the 90% group who are not able to distinguish or understand what Hi-Fi stands for.

Assefa, 01 Mar 2016your are lying about the software not going to the next os, the xshot back in the day did upgr... moreI believe it was only the Xshot that ever received an android version upgrade, that too a long time ago when they had few models at display. Also it was limited to China bound model only and we at GSMArena talk about global level. If I remember correctly since then they were not able to provide any more upgrades to the rest of their ever growing lineup. An example will be my flagship Vivo X5Max which is stuck to a 32-bit KitKat (4.4.4) on a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 platform since 2014. You get the picture.
Long story short with a R&D team of just 2000 people at Vivo, a certain percentage of which includes the software engineers, it is just not possible to keep up with giants like Samsung & LG who will have abundant of engineers to provide timely android version upgrades to their flagships. And when you don't have the resources to challenge giants, you as a manufacturer should keep the prices low to justify the lack of software upgrades to your customers. Vivo is simply not doing that and pricing their products on par with Samsung & LG. This marketing strategy may flop on a long run. Only time will tell.
Sky Is The Limit , 01 Mar 2016The closest phone to the XPlay 5 Elite (*Filter: Samsung phones) which has similar specs is th... moreHahaha.. Try again you troll. The Galaxy S7 is $699 in the US, so it's only $44 bucks more expensive. And for that you not only get the guaranteed quality and after sales service of the latest Samsung flagship but also waterproofing, definitely better cameras, and o, a $99 worth of Gear VR with five free games worth around $100. So please tell us again just how much better this Chinese phone is.
Anonymous, 01 Mar 2016Considering most people(read >90%) can't really differentiate between uncompressed and comp... moreYes, it does matter for the rest 10%. This is the reason why Vivo's markets their product as "HiFi and Smart". I am not calming myself as an audiophile. I am a music lover who uses some damn expensive headphones for which you need something in the caliber of Vivo X5Max or Xplay5 Elite to fully open up and provide the juice to drive those headphones. And in my ears the X5Max is light years ahead of a midranger like Vivo V1 or even Samsung S6 in terms of sound quality let alone driving capability. If you know something about what high quality DAC & op-amps do to sound quality then you will know what I am talking about.
I love it, personally I think it's on par with the S6 & S7 / well done Xplay 👍
Chen, 01 Mar 2016This is the love child of the iPhone 6s and S7 Edge. Gorgeous Devices !Yea I'm digging those huge bezels. Samsung's edge zero side bezels are so last year. 2016 is the year of the bezel and by 2020 we would basically have boxes with tiny screens inside ... how wonderful.
how the edges works if no touchwiz with it? The Edge features on touchwiz was somehow already useless in some point but at least there are features we can say still and does its job. probably this is more just on design only with just a curvy edge display and nothing more. waiting for official review.
Anonymous, 01 Mar 2016and then their divorce settlement costs $1 billion.LOL hilarious!
Big specs so what, it'll be a useless phone after 2 yrs or so with not much tech support in various countries when the battery depletes...
