And it has midrange internals, including camera. And it has abysmal battery life. You get more bang for your buck with pretty much any other phone in the market.

I don't think anyone would refer to the Nexus 5x as a cheap Chinese phone.
I hear what you're saying about price cuts and tend to agree. That said, the A9 was overpriced from the start for what it is. HTC continues to misread the market.
Can HTC make the argument that it has better build quality than cheaper phones and people should pay more for that? Sure. Is that worth double the price of those phones? Phone buyers have spoken and answer is No.
Cutting prices is not a good practice. In the future, whoever wants to buy an HTC phone will wait for price drop, reducing sales at MSRP, forcing HTC to cut price and have less margin/profit. Vicious circle. Add on to that that they behave like all other OEMs, with lazy updates, etc, their brand have less and less value. So not only people are expecting price cut, they expect the price to equal any cheap Chinese phone out there.
Oh well, good luck HTC.

Sure this device will have a big price cut because nobody cares about...and M10 will be the new fail from HTC...if the design is the same as the leaks then HTC is guarantee a new Nokia even the news says HTC will make the next 2/3 Nexus...hope the NExus line dont have the same destiny!
